This is my first eFiction install and the actual install went really well. But I have a glitch or something. I haven't done anything with the skins at all, simply using Elegance or CSSZen. I have the tinyMCE enabled in both admin and user preferences. When I the final "add" a story (or chapter) button the next screen that comes up shows my added text overlayed on top of the header. I have a screen cap here -
If I disable the tinyMCE in my user profile and add a chapter/story it works perfectly.
I have not done anything to any of the skins and other than adding some characters, and categories I haven't customized anything either. I've used eFiction on several other sites I use as a member and I've never seen it do anything like this.
Did I miss doing something during the intstallation? Any help would be appreciated!!
Do you have a test account for us? no but I can create one
Does it only happen in Elegance? That skin isn't coded right (I coded it so I can say that) and uses absolute positioning for the menu div, which means it's always in the same place no matter where anything else on the page moves.
No - it does it in all three included skins if tinyMCE is enabled.
Weird huh?
There's a missing closing tag somewhere most likely, but I can't tell you where. Give us a test account (doesn't need to be admin or anything) and turn debug on.
Thanks - I set up an account, username: test password: password
I went in and added the same story under the test account and it did the same thing. And I noticed something, if I scroll down to where my added text appears and the head graphic actually starts I see this text if it's any help: (the tbc... is the end of my text I put it at the end of each chapter)
tbc... [endnotes] => [submit] => Add Story ) -->
The site is now out of maint mode btw.
I appreciate the help π
Writing in CT,
I logged in as test and looked at the story and it was formatted fine with no problems at all.. at least in Firefox 3 RC2, IE7 and Opera. Have you tried clearing your browseer and looking at it again? Because I'm not seeing any problems... I haven't checked on a mac though... hang on a sec...
On a mac, it looks fine in Firefox 2.0.0.14, Camino, Safari and SeaMonkey it looks fine as well (just the Next button encroaches a little in Elegance not so much that it overlaps text or anything)

Thanks for checking!
It's happening when I submit stories/chapters. Not when simply viewing. That works fine for me.
I'm running the latest edition of Firefox on a CentOs (Linux) system and I use eFiction on several other archives without this happening so I think there is something glitched somewhere on my install lol... and I am CLUELESS about coding -but I am learning on the fly!
I just added a test story, clicked preview and it all looked okay. (ah, you may want to delete it at some point). Are you still having the problem? You might try turning TinyMCE off, then turning it back on again and see if it clears up on your end.

I just added a story as well using FF and couldn't reproduce the problem either.
okay weird but I have figured out what is actually causing the issue - but I have no idea why π lol...
This is ONLY happening in Firefox - I tried IE and it's fine, and Konqueror as well. In my stories I use --------------- as a break between sections in the story. When I cut and paste a chapter with any of these section breaks I get the error. If I remove them, I don't get the error. And I find that REALLY weird since I'm copying and pasting to my own site the same way I copy and paste to other efiction/tinymce sites (thru Firefox) without incident. Bizarre!
And what else is odd I think is that the sections with the breaks where the error occurs show up fine when you actually view the chapter.
So ultimately I think its just something flaky with my particular browser.
I appreciate the time you all spent on this π
Instead of using ---------- why not use the Horizontal rule (it's that blue rectangle in tinyMCE): I've put some in this example:

lol... yeah - I just HATE using those in Word or OpenOffice documents.
I'm hoping that with the new version of Firefox coming out that this goes away. It's just a weird sorta glitch.
