Could someone, please, tell me what is this option for: "Admin -> Settings -> Site Settings -> Use tinyMCE WYSWYG editor"?
I've set it to "No" yet I still have an option "Use tinyMCE WYSWYG editor" on my "Edit Preferences" page, and if I check it there it the tinyMCEd textareas show up on the new story page, for example.
Is that setting only for some default value maybe?

I'm pretty sure the admin setting is only for site text boxes like welcome message, custom pages, etc. and turning it off there only turns those off and individual authors still have the option to use it.
Ah yeah, I'd like something like this, too...
I was originally thinking of removing the tinyMCE option, setting everyone's to disable and then deleting it off the server. x]

Hmm... I opened the welcome message and custom pages with that setting turned off, and I have tinyMCE turned on also there.

Even if you have it turned off for the site, you have to also turn it off in your account. I'm not sure why it does that, but I'm pretty sure this behavior is what it's supposed to do.
I don't know if you should disable everyone's and then just delete it. You'd need to remove all the options (from all the text boxes and their account info page) otherwise what's to stop them from trying to turn it back on and getting an error?

Pardon me, but do you mean the absence of any behaviour whatsoever is the intended behaviour?
And I was just going to report a bug... Oh, well!

Yes, that's what I mean. I asked Tammy about it a long time ago, and I think that's what she said, though it is possible that I am remembering incorrectly. I'm guessing the option to turn on TinyMCE is left over from 2.0.
I'd ask for a new feature instead of report it as a bug though.
Hmm... All right, so it's a fake setting then. I'll post a new feature suggestion, although it's not exactly to turn off tinyMCE globally.
