I've looked around the forum but I couldn't find anything that dealt with this.

I'm using Tammy's tutorial to modify one the skins to make it more personal for my site but am running into a little bit of trouble.

1) What text editor am I suppose to be using?
2) For modifing PHP files, what program am I suppose to use?
3) How do I open tpl. files if I need to modify them?

Any help would be greatly appericated.

Thank you,
Mistyfur

1.  If you're on Windows, Notepad is the text editor that comes installed.  You can get more fancy ones that help with coding, but Notepad works fine for me.  You can access it by going to Start->Run and typing in notepad.  If you're on Mac, you'll have to ask a Mac person.  πŸ˜›

2. Unless you have FrontPage or Dreamweaver, just use your text editor.

3. Open them in the text editor.  Again, if you're using Windows.  Double click the file, a dialog box will come up asking you what program you want to open it with.  Scroll down to Notepad in the list.  If you keep the checkbox checked it will automatically open notepad for you from then on out.  (Ditto for your php files.)

I've been using Notetab Lite for ages. It works much better than notepad that comes with Windows. It's free, I tested the paid versions but I didn't find that I really needed the extra features the paid version have. Lite is the free one.

For Mac people although TextEdit comes with the Mac OS I don't like it any better than I like Window's notepad. I would recommed using Text Wrangler. It's free and if you know how to use BBEdit, you can use this as well.

Thank you Tammy, Jenny and babaca  πŸ˜€

I'll give it a try and if I get it right *fingers crossed* I'll post the skin that I create.
