Earlier on, we updated to the new script and everything was going fine, until I discovered I had accidentally deleted more than stray files and erased all the stories and records or any access to them.
I am, as you can tell a complete beginner, but I can usually follow instructions well.
So problem now: I re-uploaded the version 3 files and when I go to the website it gives me the same error as this guy:

I apologize if this is incovenient but I could not be positive of what exactly I need to do and was afraid I'm gonna screw things up. If anyone can give me a somewhat detailed list of steps to do, with things to look out for, and why this might have happened, I would be very very grateful.

Try re-creating the sql in your database, you can do so by running the queries in your PHPMyAdmin (or similar), they are located in the /docs folder. In the future, please use the Support Request Template stickied at the top of each support forum (each has its own).
sorry bout that. I found the phpmyadmin but I want to do this correctly...what exactly should I do? Like what do I put in the fields?
