URL to your eFiction: http://www.phantomoftheopera.com/fifthcellar/authors.php?action=list
Version of eFiction: 3.4
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: No
Version of PHP: 4.4.8
Version of MySQL: 4.0.27-standard
Have you searched for your problem: Yes
If so, what terms did you try: "story count" "authors.php" "author list"
State the nature of your problem: Member list shows "0's" after every author's name. Stories are all there, no info missing. Just the counts. I have run "Re-calculate Site Statistics" and searched through MySql for something that looked relevant (like another place where the sitekey might be needed and wrong). I've re-uploaded authors.php.

Log in to admin, Archive Maintenance and  click on recalculate stories.

I answered something! I'm not a total drain to  the forum! Rock!

Thanks AnarchicQ, unfortunately the Archive Maintenance didn't work for me, so I modified the table _stats in phpMyAdmin, hope it fixed permanently.

Greetings to all!

Not the same problem.  Not even close though the solution is.  Click on recalculate statistics instead of stories.

O.T.
I think I've misunderstood my_daroga problem (I saw your authors page), so maybe it will be best to del/move my post, they're confusing the main topic X_X

I'm still not sure how to solve this problem; recalculate site statistics would work if it was the site info that was off, but it isn't. I had to fix some things in phpMyAdmin, when my site stats were off, but I can't find anyplace that deals with the author story counts after the names.

I'm wondering if maybe there's something in the skin preventing it somehow. Try viewing it in one of the efiction default skins. Because while it's says your authors have 0 stories, if I click on one like Luciille it takes me to their profile page and their stories are listed.

I know there's no actual loss of content, and the counts are there in other places. It's just this page. And no, the default skin (CSSZen) shows the same. Good idea, though.

I'm guessing here but I would probably reupload the files in the user folder plus the viewstory.php, viewpage.php, viewuser.php, user.php and authors.php files and see if it fixes the problem.

More information, if it helps; I'm beginning to think I won't ever figure this out.

I've reloaded all the suggested files, with no change.

The authors.php page still shows 0 after every author, and if you select "authors" on the drop down menu it implies no one's written anything. On the author pages (in Zen) the tabs show an accurate count. I've looked at the MySQL database and this is what I see:

If I go in and edit a field to reflect the right number, it will show up on the authors page. It does not update when I add a story. It does, however, subtract when I delete a story. So I can start with 10, add one and still have 10, delete the fake story and suddenly have 9 even though there are still ten stories.

I've looked through the .php files that seem relevant but I don't understand them or where that number is supposed to come from. I guess it's not a big deal but it looks bad, and there are enough non-contributors on my archive to make the counts useful.

Redownload eFiction from here, and reupload it, overwriting all your files. THEN see if adding a story will increase the count. It has got to be something in your copy. Redownloading a new copy from here, and overwriting all of it on your server is the only way to be sure.

If it works, then you can see about getting the numbers to display correctly.
