My stories folder is CHMODed 777, I can upload normally, and the stories show up. The problem is, sudenlly some stories are not showing up anymore. In certain stories, some chapters show up, and others chapters don't. The server has safe mode on, I emailed the server this afternoon and they said it hasn't changed recently. I don't know if this has something to do, but I turned debug on, and on the browser title there is this code:

You can't store stories in folders with safe mode on. It's always been that way so I don't know how you had it working previously. No the debug information has nothing to do with it. If you want to turn maintenance back off, I'll go to the site and take a look. With maintenance on there's not much we can look at and therefore not much we can do.
I've had the site this way for a long time, using 1.1 version, and I have over 700 stories. It was working fine until this weekend, when we notice some stories weren't showing up anymore. I turned maintenance off. I have no idea of what to do, I could try ask them to turn it off...

Point me to some stories that aren't showing up. Every story I clicked on in your "Most Recent" list showed up.
ETA: I signed up for an account and successfully added a story. As far as I can see there's nothing wrong.
Yes, we can upload, and it's just some of the stories that are not showing.

Well the files are there. Go to stories/45/ and check the CHMOD on 979.txt. It should be 644. It if isn't CHMOD it so. That might be your problem.

My friend tried to edit one chapter of a story that was showing up, and now it's not showing anymore.

It's a shot in the dark, but download a new copy of 3.2.1 and re-upload stories.php.
I uploaded the stories.php and nothing changed.
So I re-uploaded one chapter (.txt file) that wasn't showing up, and now it shows up fine. I can check every story from the archieve and re-upload all the ones that aren't showing up... But I'm afraid it may happen again... I had to upload the file by the cpanel, because I tried to do it by the FTP program and it was given me a message: Upload failed on xxxx (upload not allowed). Is it normal? Could it be the safe mode problem?

It's probably something wrong with your server.
In any case, it shouldn't happen again unless you plan to revert back to 1.1? 🙂
just make sure that you reupload all the story text files that are missing. Save a new backup.
