Hi !
In last few days I had problem with spams... It seems like someone is sending mails from my site... I have gone through all setting which activate protection from spam, but I seem to be missing some... What we (as community) need is following:
1. Document which describes which settings need to be used to prevent spamming (in wiki somewhere) or different levels of protections (like only registered usrs can write reviews... etc)
2. Better description of where mail came from (only info I get is following:
This message was sent to you from Andy's Earth 2 Fan-fiction Archive located at http://www.atech-software.com/fan-fiction/e2.), this would need to be more detailed, for example, This message was sent from review of story 'something' from from Andy's Earth 2 Fan-fiction Archive located at http://www.atech-software.com/fan-fiction/e2.
3. Possibility to have administrator tag all allowed users or administrator to check users before registering...
I know this features are wishful thinking, but at least point 1 would be nice for now...
Take care,
Andy
There already is a way to prevent spam reviews. Go to Admin>Settings>Review settings and make sure "allow anonymous reviews" is set to no. That way people must be logged in to leave a review.
My Site:
eFiction: v3.4.3
PHP: 5.2.6
MySQL: 5.0.45-community
Mods: Challenges, Submit Time and Word Count
Also turn on the captcha. That tends to cut down on a lot of spam.
If you are just getting email that says it was sent from your site, it comes from the contact form. Reviews say they are in response to a story.

Is there any way to get a captcha code set up on the contact form?
I'm experiencing spam problems from the contact form page π
Thank you π
If you have captcha turned on, it shows up on the Contact Page. That's if you are not logged in that is. The captcha field appears anywhere a comment can be made (i.e. the review page, the register page, contact us page, and if you have shoutbox enabled, that page as well).
