URL to your eFiction: http://www.jonasbrothersfanfictionarchive.com
Version of eFiction: 3.5
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: SM
Version of PHP: 5.2.8
Version of MySQL: 5
Have you searched for your problem: yes
If so, what terms did you try: blank index hack
State the nature of your problem:
Long story short, we were hacked. I deleted offending files and re-uploaded both eFiction and SMF clean files.

Now I have no site, just a blank page.

I've checked the default_tpls, checked the config, made sure the skins files were fine... but I still get nothing. I'm trying to figure out if this is my host being a bunch of @#$%s (they claimed it was a scripting error and not a hack, like the site would randomly decide to upload 20,000 2GB files) or if I'm just missing a step somewhere along the way.

Do you have a test account for us?PM please

This is probably silly, but my first instinct would be to check that there weren't any other index files in there, like index.html.  I think .php supersedes almost anything else, but that would just be my instinct.

But, looking around, I can't view browse.php or anything else either.  Maybe your host locked it down?  Check the .htaccess files, maybe?  Hmm.

First thing I did was check for the index.html, because that's exactly what happened when we switched servers the first time and I couldn't figure out what was going on. When I put an index.html on the server, it does show up.

.htaccess looks good, and just for kicks and giggles I removed it temporarily just in case.

ETA: So I installed a test eFiction using the same files (just uploaded the install files again) and that works. So I THINK the trouble may be a corrupted database, which I DIDN'T fix yet. Any ideas on what could make it go blank though?

Well, the fact that's its not putting up any error messages is what's throwing me.  But when I view it, it never actually stops loading, just sits there still trying and trying (this could be my crappy internet, though) so maybe they're just not loading.  I guess that makes sense since the very first thing in header.php is debug. Did you rename the database?  (I probably would if I got hacked.)  If so, did you change config.php to match?

Hmm, what else could it be... Did the hackers change the database structure at all?  Maybe it could have to do with the sitekey or the table prefix.

Out of curiosity, what's the url to your SMF?  If it's a subdomain, does it load at all?  You're bridged, right?  (So then the eFic and SMF are in the same database?)

I haven't messed with any of the mysql yet. The site key and config matches the database. I didn't think to double check the settings table though

eFiction is top level, SMF is /board SMF is working just fine, which is the weird part.

Found it. The config file itself was getting corrupted during the upload process. I had to use Shell.  πŸ™„

When I look at your page now I see the following at the top (something going on with your storyblock.php file?):

Warning: array_key_exists() [function.array-key-exists]: The first argument should be either a string or an integer in /home/jonasb7/public_html/includes/storyblock.php on line 103
