[SOLVED] Upgrading Question

This is probably really obvious. Do I need to remove all the current eFiction files (except the ones specified) before uploading those from the new upgrade? I have downloaded the 3.5.2 files, backed up the stories folder and now I'm just staring at my control panel - do I get rid of directories such as "admin" etc before uploading the new versions?

Thanks.

To upgrade you don't have to remove anything. What you do is unzip the new upgrade and ftp all files (except TinyMCE folder because that's huge and takes days. Don't upload the Install folder either, and probably not skins folder if you have skins you like). Once you have upload all the files. Go to your website. It will say it's under maintenance. Click the Login button and log in. If you are the admin The screen will say, "Do you want to Upgrade?" Click yes. Once it's finished you will get a message saying it's done.

That's all there is to it. You can log out and see what a person without an account sees (the maintenance message will be gone).

It's really simple. You generally don't have to back up (it's always a good idea though. But to backup your files, I usually go into Admin->Archive Maintenance and click Backup the database, it will create a sql file that you can use if your database gets corrupted.

For the next time you upgrade, there's a wiki article that has all the info: https://efiction.org/wiki/index.php5?title=Upgrading
