Hi, I'm completely new to eFiction and.. er, I have two problems.

URL to your eFiction: http://veritas.1111mb.com -- direct-link to a "story" test page is http://veritas.1111mb.com/writing/viewstory.php?sid=1
Version of eFiction: 3.2.1
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: No.
Version of PHP: Don't know (Using a free hosting service)
Version of MySQL: Don't know. (")
Have you searched for your problem: Yes. Couldn't really find anything.
If so, what terms did you try: story text not showing up
State the nature of your problem: When I tried to post a story to test if the archive was working, the story text wouldn't show up, plain and simple. Everything else seems to be functioning fine. Also, a second problem that I have is that there are a bunch of error notices at the "search" page, and I don't know how to remedy them. o_o;

Notice: Undefined index: submit in /www/1111mb.com/v/e/r/veritas/htdocs/writing/search.php on line 27

Do you have a test account for us? Yep. Password and user are test and Test, respectively.

Thanks for your time. πŸ˜€

For the story text not showing up, make sure your stories folder is CHMOD'd to 777 (some sites require 755).

For the notice errors turn debug off.

The stories folder is set to 777, and nothing changed when I turned debug off. :/

Maybe your website has safe mode on. Try chmoding the stories folder to 755 and see if it works.

I...can't change the permissions for some reason. It just refused to be changed; I don't know if this is something with my FTP programs (I tried it out on CoreFTP and FireFTP) or because of my host, but either way I can't change it to 755 >_<; Which is weird, because I was changing the permissions to 777 and such when I first installed eFiction, and that worked...

Thanks to the two of you for your replies, by the way. I appreciate it. Any ideas on what else it might be?

Use the PHP Info link in your Admin area to find out if your site is in safe mode.  From what you're describing, I'd guess it's very likely.  They've probably changed their server configuration.  The other problem is also a server configuration issue.  Your host has error reporting dialed all the way up.  You can try adding this to search.php on the directly beneath the license info.

error_reporting(E_ERROR | E_WARNING | E_PARSE);

I used the PHP Info to check, and yes, my site's on safe mode. >_<; I'm..really not sure how to work around that.

The search page doesn't have the error notices anymore, thank you very much for that.  πŸ˜€

This is a brand new site right?  Set it to save the story texts in the database.  Admin->Settings->Submission Settings.  Change "Stories saved in" from "files" to "mysql."  Click the checkbox off to activate that dropdown list make your change then click the checkbox back on.
