URL to your eFiction: http://www.donnieyen.us/library/
Version of eFiction: Upgraded from 2.0.6 to 3.0.1

Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: SMF
Version of PHP:  4.4.4
Version of MySQL: 4.1.21-standard
Have you searched for your problem: (yes/no) Yes
If so, what terms did you try: Bridge
Have you looked at the FAQs: Read the readme's and the support forums
State the nature of your problem:

When I accessed my site, I had to do a new install.  No big deal as this isn't live and there was little already done to it, just settings changes.  As I was typing, I realize that I confused dbconfig with config in reference so there was no config existing in the directory.  It was backed up though.  As I said, no huge problem, there was nothing loaded into the DB beyond settings.  So my install is brand spanking new

I poke around a bit to see what's new then read up on how to Bridge SMF.  I move the files listed into the user folder and the two others that go into the includes, editing queries to point to my SMF.

I access my site again and I get the following errors:

Notice: Undefined index: header in /home/donnie6/public_html/library/includes/class.TemplatePower.inc.php on line 702

Notice: Undefined index: header in /home/donnie6/public_html/library/includes/class.TemplatePower.inc.php on line 702

Notice: Undefined index: header in /home/donnie6/public_html/library/includes/class.TemplatePower.inc.php on line 714

Notice: Undefined index: footer in /home/donnie6/public_html/library/includes/class.TemplatePower.inc.php on line 702

Notice: Undefined index: footer in /home/donnie6/public_html/library/includes/class.TemplatePower.inc.php on line 702

Notice: Undefined index: in /home/donnie6/public_html/library/includes/class.TemplatePower.inc.php on line 702

Notice: Undefined index: footer in /home/donnie6/public_html/library/includes/class.TemplatePower.inc.php on line 714

I searched the support forums for this didn't get much, hence the topic, I also go into my author table and change the uid to match the ID in my SMF members table.  When i leave it be or have it matching my ID in SMF, I still don't have Admin access.  So far it looks like it's working inso much as it's looking at the SMF member table, it's displaying the correct newest member.

My SMF folder is a sibling folder relative to efiction's folder. SMF VER: 1.1RC2  Appreciate any troubleshooting tips.  I took off the bridge cause I don't like my file path out there for the world to see.  😎

If you have errors like

class.TemplatePower.inc.php on line 702

That sometimes means that it is a skin issue with either blocks in the skin, or the variables file. I'm not seeing those errors anywhere on your archive though.

For anyone else with those sort of errors check these topics:

I don't know what to say to yours. Give a url of a page that shows the errors.

Did you check your BASE install of 3.0 before you started messing with bridges?  The bridge for SMF is in no way related to the 2.0 bridge.  It may not work.  It's designed for the simplest situation: 2 new installs.

Thanks Jan for the linkage, I'll read through and see if something strikes a lightbulb on.  πŸ˜€

Tammy: Not thoroughly I'll admit that.  I wanted to jump in and see if the bridge would play nice up front.    Worst case scenario is my other admins with SMF will have to login again to put up stuff there, which is no biggie in the grand scheme of things.  They'd be the only ones allowed anyway as it stands.

Appreciate the pointers  πŸ˜€

Okay reading this again, other than those errors, your problem is that you don't have admin rights.? You can fix that by using phpMyAdmin and editing the PREFIXfanfiction_authorprefs table.  Find your SMF ID and change the level to 1 for that uid.

Ok, I've isolated how the theme errors occur.

I moved the SMF bridge files as instructed, edited queries.php as instructed.  I load up the site and the theme displays as it should. .  I type in the URL for the admin and get the not authorized to access message.  I go into my database and edit the UID in the SMF members table to be 1.  After that, I'm good to go.

Out of curiosity, I changed my SMF UID back to it's original value and changed the UID in the efiction tables.  That recreated the error I first reported.  Based on what you've said before Tammy, it works as intended because a fresh SMF install would have the first user [Admin account] as UID=1.  Myself, I converted to SMF from an integrated phpbb with Nuke.

Figured a 'summary' of what happened would benefit those interested or using the SMF bridge in the future.  Beyond that, everything's working as expected so far.  I should be able to explore more as the week finished out.
