State the nature of your problem:
When a person goes to register with the archive--to create a new account--the security code that is supposed to display at the bottom of the form so people can type it into the box and verify their humanity, doesn't show. It just has a question mark box.

Okay, nevermind. I turned off the thing called capcha verification in the settings and it got rid of the option entirely.

I remember from a post that the captcha script only works if something is enabled on your server to use it. I can't remember what it was off the top of my head, and I haven't been able to find the thread where it was mentioned through the search though. Sorry.
Turning the captcha (form to prove humanity) was the way to fix registrations immediately.
Maybe someone else will know why it didn't work.
