Have tried the following from another post with a similar problem but it is still not working.
Replace ".PENNAMEFIELD." with "._PENNAMEFIELD."
Replace ".UIDFIELD." with "._UIDFIELD."
Replace .DBPREFIX. with .TABLEPREFIX.
State the nature of your problem:
I have just upgraded to version 3.5 from 3.4.
Now when I try to upload a story (whether in the textarea or a text file) I get this error "You must include the text of your story either as an upload or as input into the textarea."
Do you have a test account for us? No
Saya had the same issue in that thread. ( https://efiction.org/forums/index.php?topic=6674 - this one, right?) I haven't seen the solution.
I'm curious to know if your stories are being saved to the stories folder or your database.

The issue is fixed now. I copied another file that it was complaining about into the Install Languages folder (unfortunately I don't remember which now).
That got past these problems. Then I encountered a problem with an invalid LEFT JOIN.
The suggestion for this one was to "Extract stories.php from the archive and overwrite your current stories.php with the 3.4.3 one."
This worked beautifully. My site now works and I can upload fic to it.
