URL to your eFiction: http://www.phantomoftheopera.com/fifthcellar
Version of eFiction: 3.3.1 going to 3.4
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: No
Version of PHP: 4.4.8
Version of MySQL: 4.0.27-standard
Have you searched for your problem: Yes
If so, what terms did you try: "action was successful" update (because of the problem I was having before I screwed it up more)
State the nature of your problem: Here's the error:

A fatal MySQL error was encountered.
Query: CREATE TABLE `fanfiction_coauthors` ( `sid` int(11) NOT NULL default '0', `uid` int(11) NOT NULL default '0', PRIMARY KEY (`sid`,`uid`) ) TYPE=MyISAM;
Error: (1050) Table 'fanfiction_coauthors' already exists

I was updating to 3.4.1 from 3.3.1. It told me the action was successful, but nothing happened after that; I kept trying to click on any link at all and it would take me back to the update y/n page. I thought I might have to delete the update.php file, since it kept coming back to that, but that made me get a "page not found" error. So I uploaded the update.php file again, hit "yes," and got the above error.

I realize I must have done something really stupid, but I can't think what. I can't alter anything about the site or the account because it won't let me get anywhere. I searched for a "how do I update" guide (that addressed this, I mean) and couldn't find anything either.

Do you have a test account for us? See above.

Update: I went into phpMyAdmin and found that I'd apparently created two settingsfanfiction_settings tables. I deleted what I figured was the second one but in retrospect it was wrong. I also looked at the typ-o in 3.4.2 thread but both of my settings tables had 3.3.1 still in the version box.

If it's a matter of backing things up, I did that before I began this but I'm not sure that's what I need to do, since it seems I just keep making things worse.

MOSTLY SOLVED: The sitekey in my config file and my fanfiction_settings didn't match. I fixed that. Now I just have to figure out why there's no info in the Site Info box.

I wish I had something helpful to say other than... I think it was all user stupidity. All better now. Thanks!
