This is one of those things that I know has a really simple answer but I'm just not seeing it so...

URL to your eFiction: http://sineya.moments-lost.co.uk/archive
Version of eFiction: 3.1.1
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: nope
Version of PHP: 4.42
Version of MySQL: 4.1.21-standard
Have you searched for your problem: yes
If so, what terms did you try: CHMOD, messages, footer
State the nature of your problem: Brand new install, alhtough I have another archive which I'll be upgrading from 2.0.7 asap, and everything seems to be fine except that when I go into the admin panel to change the copyight footers, welcome message etc, the changes aren't taking effect and the pre-existing messages vanish completely. Am I right in thinking these should be CHMOD'd to something? If so, where do I find them (there used to be a 'messages' folder, or am I insane? *g*) and should they be 666 or 777?
Do you have a test account for us?' I can set one up for you if needs be.

Thanks for all the help you guys have given and all the work you put into this - it's much appreciated!

This was a reported bug last week.  Download the 3.1.1 .zip again and replace the admin/messages.php file. See the news forum.
