URL to your eFiction: http://loveunchained.com/fiction/
Version of eFiction: 3.5
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: No.
Version of PHP: 5.2.8
Version of MySQL: 5.0.67
Have you searched for your problem: Yes
If so, what terms did you try: Skins taking forever to load
State the nature of your problem: After upgrading from 2.0 and also downloading some skins from http://the-butterfly.de/index.php?page=efiction and installing them, my archive willload the main page but takes so long to go to any other pages that it times out! I'm also having trouble with the skins as they are in german! I downloaded the zip file that is supposed to make it in English, but it doesn't seem to be working! I have e-mailed the skin creator about the language problem and she provided me with a new files and instructed me to download them directly to the downloaded skins folder. But it's still not working! And the skin loading time is driving me insane!
Do you have a test account for us?yes username= test    pass= lu17

Could there possibly be a problem with your host? Also it seems likely that it takes a while for those skins to load because you have such large header files. I don't seem to be having any problems loading anything on your site. However it seems like your skins are all funky because they don't 'stick', and when I go to various pages of your site, the skin changes.

I'm only having the loading prblems when I'm viewing the new skins when I use one of my old skins or something like csszen everything is fine. It's the downloades skins like Harry Potter 01, 02, and 03 that I am having problems with. Maybe I should uninstall them and then install them again with the language packs I need? IDK. My host is fine. Not having any problems on any other sites. I don't have the foggiest idea why the skins would change as you went to different pages though? That's weird. This upgrade has become a major headache. I'm begging to wish I had just stuck with 2.0.

That test site is also running 3.5.  Nothing at all seems to be hanging.  I think you might want to consider it might be some of the blocks you've got.  I notice the other skins don't have poll block and shoutbox and all that, so they could be causing the problem.  Try troubleshooting that by removing them one at a time and see if that fixes it.  Also, you'll want the ones that appear only on the index page to be set to Index Only.

I downloaded the zip.  Inside the .zip there's a folder called en.  I copied over the ones in the main folder with those in the en folder, deleted the en folder, then uploaded it.  Skins don't have their own language files; the files in the en folder are meant to be used instead of the ones in the root of the' folder, but she packaged them that way so they'd be there with every download even though her main language is German.

Glad it's sorted. : )
