Do you have other efic installs with this same hosting company? I didn't see that you'd reuploaded the files, but I looked again and it looks like you did.

Try fixing the CHMOD on just the skin files.

Yes, I did. πŸ™‚ I'm currently, for the billionth time, re-uploading efic, but I kept
my congfig. We'll see if the thing lets me install. Last night (before I did everything
fresh) I chmodded the skins (along with a gang of other stuff) and the pics still didn't
show. I figured it was because a whole lot of them weren't done.

And yeppers, I currently have 5 efics hosted with this server, that's why it's so hard to understand
why it's not working now. And it's definitely not working. πŸ™

Hm...I don't think this is it, but make sure you are uploading your images in binary mode and not ascii. That usually causes the images to show, but be ugly, but it's worth a shot, right?

I kept my config file, but reuploaded everything else and this is what I got: http://inugrrrl.net/fanfic/

No images. πŸ™‚

I'm guessing that this is a permissions thing after all, since again, they're out of wack.
I'll copy and paste some numbers so you have an idea of what I'm looking at.

README.txt 6 k 0755
admin.php 3 k 0755
authors.php 4 k 0755
browse.php 16 k 0755
config.php 0 k 0644
contact.php 3 k 0755
header.php 16 k 0755
index.php 1 k 0755
maintenance.php 1 k 0755
news.php 7 k 0755
reviews.php 22 k 0755
rss.php 3 k 0755
search.php 15 k 0755
series.php 22 k 0755
stories.php 53 k 0755
template.php 2 k 0755
tempupdate.php 2 k 0755
toplists.php 2 k 0755
update.php 17 k 0755
user.php 3 k 0755
viewpage.php 1 k 0755
viewseries.php 7 k 0755
viewstory.php 21 k 0755
viewuser.php 7 k 0755

Has anyone gotten these kinds of numbers from a fresh install before? I've checked these numbers against
my other addon domain (it's been in operation for over a year) and their numbers show 644, but we didn't
do any special changes. I don't get it.

Try just putting a few files in a folder with a different name and see what the permissions are. Also, if you haven't before, download a fresh copy of efiction just in case the one you've got is somehow messed up.

I tried it, but it didn't work. πŸ™
I made a test folder and only uploaded 3 files and came up with this:

admins.php 7 k 0755
authorfields.php 8 k 0755
backup.php 3 k 0755
blocks.php 4 k 0755
categories.php 14 k 0755
censor.php 2 k 0755
characters.php 8 k 0755
classifications.php 10 k 0755
custpages.php 6 k 0755
featured.php 2 k 0755
genres.php 5 k 0755
index.php 0 k 0755
links.php 7 k 0755
lock.php 3 k 0755
mailusers.php 4 k 0755
maintenance.php 11 k 0755
manual.php 1 k 0755
members.php 12 k 0755
messages.php 2 k 0755
modules.php 4 k 0755

Oh, and this is from a fresh download of efic, too. I e-mailed my server demanding to know why
the same software can work on every domain but this one. There has to be an explanation for why
the permissions upload incorrectly. But I doubt I'll get a real answer. I also asked if there was any
way to correct permissions without doing them one at a time. I'd be doing that for days, and what if
it didn't work?

How awful this is. So awful I have to laugh, lol.

Make a new folder at http://inugrrrl.net/ like /pics

Upload an image to it.

Make sure that you can see the image online by going to its online location, that should be something like http://inugrrrl.net/pics/ or

If that works, then try doing the same at the eFiction level: http://inugrrrl.net/fanfic/pics/ and upload a picture to it.

If you can't see the image the first time, then you know it's a server problem, and you can yell at the tech people without getting them confused about the script. Just make sure that you demand to know what they do when they fix it so you can fix the other ones.

If it shows up the first time, but not the second, then someone did something to mess up the pictures being viewed on your subdomain. If that's the case, I would just delete all the eFiction files from the server and call their attention to the /pics folder with the image that doesn't show up and have them fix that. Then after its fixed, I would reupload the eFiction files.

Remote = online
Local = home (saved on your computer)

First, I want to thank everyone that stepped in and tried to help me.
I really really appreciate all of your effort. πŸ˜€ You rawk!

Second, ladies, we have finally solved the problem.

Like you guys said, it WAS a server issue. Apparently, the domain wasn't
listed on a certain "access" file and that's why it didn't show up. I'm happy
to announce that everything is as it should be and we can close this thread.

Again, thank you for all of your help. πŸ˜€
