Since my original post got sort of long as it involved 3 issues, I've separated this one by itself and marked the original post solved.

I'm still having this issue and I don't know what to do about it. I'd hope to get it fixed before I formally announce that my fan fiction archives are ready for the general public as this is obviously an irritating error!

Website: http://www.slytherinselection.com/eFiction/

When authors receive an e-mail notification that they have a new review, the URL they receive in the e-mail is invalid. For example, I received a review alert with the following URL:

http://www.slytherinselection.com/reviews.php?type=ST&item=6 ---> that brings up "The requested URL /reviews.php was not found on this server." (plus a 404 error)

For the URL to be correct, it should read: http://www.slytherinselection.com/eFiction/reviews.php?type=ST&item=6 --> note the addition of the eFiction directory after my website domain. The problem is I don't know where to go or anything to get the correct URLs sent out to people. In the meantime I've added a news story telling authors how they can get to their review, but it's rather a pain and is only good for a short-term solution.

I've just learned that this also happens when story update e-mails are sent out:

This is the received url: http://www.slytherinselection.com/viewstory.php?sid=10&chapter=36 which generates the same error as above.

This is what url should be generated: http://www.slytherinselection.com/eFiction/viewstory.php?sid=10&chapter=36   I don't understand why it is generating without the directory included since it's all in that directory!

Maybe I'm searching with the wrong words but I'm not coming up with anyone else having had this issue, so I'm not sure how to go about resolving it.

Thank you πŸ™‚

Usually that is caused because the site url is incorrect.

Go to your Admin panel... Settings.

Look at what the Site URL: is.

It probably is http://www.slytherinselection.com/.

It should be http://www.slytherinselection.com/eFiction/

Change it and see if that fixes the problem.

Whoever said nothing is impossible never tried slamming a revolving door.

*Doh*  A technician for my actual website host did the actual eFiction installation for me since my mySQL databases were acting up, so that never even occurred to me. So simple and yet so .. Ah well.

I appreciate your answer. I had to wait until one of my authors updated tonight to make sure it was good to go. The update alert is good so I'm going to assume the review alert is working as well. πŸ™‚
