[SOLVED] combining tables?

URL: http://archive.nsync-fiction.com

Problem: site went down, so, after numerous attempts to fix it,  I finally just did a clean install of 3.4 (old working version was 3.1). At first I tried using the original database (tatiana_archive) during the install, but of course received more errors, so I created a new table (tatiana_nsyncfiction). I have not done anything with the _archive database, and I have a backup of it as well. Is there a way to either combine the two databases, or restore the info from the _archive to _nsyncfiction so that the stories/authorinfo/reviews/etc are back?

The strange thing is that the categories came back, the characters are there, the very first news update I posted is there, and there's one inprogress story (the chapter titles are there, but the content itself and the reviews are not there).

Please help!

Thanks in advance.

I don't think you should try to come up with creative ways to fix your site if you don't know what you're doing--you just make things more messed up and the people trying to help you more confused.

What was wrong with your original database? What errors were you getting? You can import the old database into the new one, but if there was something wrong with it before, those problems  would still be there when you import it.

Open your config.php file, change the database information to your old database, and tell us what errors you're getting. If the errors were the ones you mentioned in your other thread, they aren't even caused by your database...

I know, but I was frustrated and impatient (and stubborn). That's not really a reason, more of an excuse, but it's all I can offer.

The problem with the original (archive) database now, is that when I edited the config file, it only shows the information from the very first day that the site was set up. With the new database (nsyncfiction), most everything shows up--the reviews, stories (but not actual chapter content), and log in information. This is after my webhost helped me to import the tables from (archive) to (nsyncfiction), so the original reason for THIS post no longer applies, but I do have one more question.

When I click on 'authors'  I receive an error like this:

A fatal MySQL error was encountered.
Query: SELECT count(author.uid) FROM settingsfanfiction_authors as author LEFT JOIN settingsfanfiction_authorprefs as ap ON author.uid = ap.uid WHERE ap.stories > 0
Error: (1054) Unknown column 'ap.stories' in 'where clause'

The same thing happens when I click on a user's name to access their profile.

A fatal MySQL error was encountered.
Query: SELECT stories FROM settingsfanfiction_authorprefs WHERE uid = '1352'
Error: (1054) Unknown column 'stories' in 'field list'

I've put the site under maintence until this is resolved one way or another so that my users don't go in and panic when things don't show up and then flood me with emails :-P, so please let me know if I need to make a test account for you to access the site properly.

You're trying to run a 3.1 database with 3.4 files. They're incompatible.  Did you run the update?  Edit your database to show the version as 3.1 then run update.php

Thank you both for your help. I know I'm probably being a pain.

Where in the database do I edit to show the version as 3.1?
