Make sure that you are using CSS and all its .tpl files without editing any of them, including variables.php.

Make sure that your block settings are right. Set everything to Index Only to test (except for menu and Who's Online, leave those as active).

Turn debug off and I think most of those errors will go away.

Hi, thanks for responding so quickly, tried everything suggested and nothing worked.

Then i tried only having the csszen loaded that came with the efic 3.0 and that didnt work and then i tried just the default templates (assuming mine was somehow stuffing it up)

no good their either

i notice in the thread, they said try redsimplicity, but i cant seem to get to it.

Tried registering on http://efiction.hugosnebula.com/register.php   and couldnt register, ketp telling me the code was incorrect (tried it about 10 times and kept saying same thing)

right now i am so lost i just dont knwo what to do (and i thought this was going to be easy the second time around  😥 after i finally figured out how to make a skin work for 2.0)

so now i have only the default template loaded (as missingpieces) and the csszen

also i have looked at my directory and i seem to have files in it that are not in the original efic dl (the woudl be from the 2.0 install i guess - )  I think i deleted all the files that i was intstructed to at the end of the upgrade

I'm only seeing the one error.  Did you make changes?

yes i took out all of the skins and loaded the ones in the default_tpl folder but now i dont know what i have done cos it is even more seriously fubar

this is only a test site, perhpas i screwed up in the install somehow (although it actaully ran pretty smoothly), so what i am going to do is reload efic 2.0 and then try the upgrade again (since i have a live one with over 2000 stories on that i am trying to get working adn i dont think i can just start with a fresh install)

I will give this a shot before i waste any more of your time and see if i can get it working ( i am assuming it is smt dumb i have done without even realising it)

i really appreciate everything you do it is a huge job and you are so clever to make all this work (I know a tiny bit - just enough to have skinned the last version but that is about it- and i am in awe of what you do and get it all workign)

If you haven't started over yet. DON'T!  The install seems to have gone fine except you've got errors in your categories somewhere.  I think you may have the settings set to have only one category.  Goto Admin->Settings->Site Settings and check.

i have number of categories in settings set  to more than one (it was set to that in the install optiosn too)

and everything seems to be fine except for i cannot use the categories link in the missingpieces skin (which is just the default templates i put in a folder and called it that- i havent touched the variables. css or anything file  the only thing i have done is changed a font for title in the css) and the other skin is the csszen that came with the install and the broswe in the csszen is fine for everything except for categories

Yeah you've got errors in your categories somewhere.  That's what's throwing those errors.  Re-running the upgrade probably won't fix that.  Go to Admin->Archive Maintenance and click on "Fix Category Order".  The implode warning is coming from your "see if it even works" story.  It's somehow lost it's category or has a category that no longer exists.  The categoriesblock errors are because you have use .tpl set and the CSSZen skin uses the default settings.  You can either change the category block's settings through the admin panel or add:

$blocks['categories]['tpl'] = 0;

to the variables.php file.

Do those and see where you're at.

and when i go into settings and blocks and try to change it to default, or any other changes in there, they don't seem to be holding, even before you suggested it, i have set it to default maybe 100 times and it just will not seem to stick for some reason

although i had to fix the missng " things cos it crashed it,

and i think the other huge problem was one of my index.php file must have skipped on the ftp transfer, i have been reuploading files one at a time and noticed one kept skipping, so deleted the old 2.0 file i guess and then uploaded, and that fixed it...omg i cant believe it

ten hours today i have been struggling and never even thought to check the uploading... grrr

Hey Tammy, just wanted to give you a heads up on why i had so many problems, and i also belive it is why the settings woudln't hold the defualt in the blocks as well.

This might affect others so it might be worth looking at before launching into big coding issues.

Apparently my ftp (cute) is set to a default to skip 0 byte files, which most of the index.php files are, and so what happened was it was actually skipping uploading them, but reporting the files as 100% uploaded. So the old efic 2 index.php files were still on the server. I have now gone thru and checked and uploaded every single index.php and now all the problems are solved, (including my blocks settings actually holding) and the progie seems to be working just fine. (and what great improvements you have made, i am so loving it compared to the earlier verisons, it is fantastic)

Just thought i would let you know so that if anybody else has this kind of issue, this is somehthing that might help you resolve it more quickly.

Well I can't see how that solved your problem.  There's nothing in those index.php files they're there as a security measure to help keep hackers at bay.
