URL to your eFiction:  http://www.gwyaoi.org/fics/
Version of eFiction:3.0.2
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?:No
Version of PHP: 4.4.4
Version of MySQL: 4.1.21-standard
Have you searched for your problem: yes
If so, what terms did you try: Category, Categories, also Browsed all topics in help and install and skin forums for 3.0
State the nature of your problem: No specific Error Message
Do you have a test account for us? Yes, if needed.

I have a fresh install of 3.0 installed, not upgraded.  For some reason I am not able to see the listing of Categories on the index page.  I can reach it from Browse or Categorie Links  from the menu.  But the Categorie Box on the index page stays blank.

I only intend to have the one category and have it as a top level category.  I also have tried changing the block from index only, active and inactive.  This also happens from all skins, logged in or out ...

Thanks in advance

Turn the block on.  Admin->Blocks

It is currently on 'Active'  which was the original setting.

Did you choose "one category" in the admin options?  If so then the block won't display anything.  Since with only one category there's nothing really to show.  Your visitors should just go to the "Titles" page.  You'll probably want turn the categories browse page off as well in the Admin->Panels section.

That is it!  Thank you!  I hadn't realized having just the one category would do that!

Sorry for the trouble!

It saves on the site resources if you're not running unncessary searches in the database. So the block is set to stop itself if only one category is set in the admin settings.  Marking this as solved.
