I feel like a complete moron, but I can't seem to find a way to edit my list of characters.  It's still functional; I just can't figure out how to access it, as there's no option to edit it in the list of Admin areas.  I have:

Add New Series | Add New Story | News | Submissions | Admin Manual | Skins | Version Check
Categories | Ratings | Classifications | Members | Mail Users
Panels | Settings | Blocks | Custom Pages | Page Links | Admins | PHP Info | Action Log | Profile Information | Archive Maintenance | Modules

Then when I try to go into "Categories" and edit Characters from there, I just get an empty page.  Does anyone know what I could have done wrong and how I might fix it?

well first of all it would be useful to have a link to your site and also to know which version of efiction you are using

r.e your question - if you go into the admin area on version 3.xx of the software then you should also see a Characters option in the list you posted in your post its next to Categories well it is at least in my install and if you click that then you'll be able to add characters from there

hope that helps you 🙂

Here's my site: http://theninemuses.net/archive/
I'm using eFiction 3.3, and as I pasted above, there's no Characters option.  That's why I'm so confused.  It used to be there!

It's a new install. And what do you mean about blocks not showing up?

the blocks are like featured author, who's online and stuff like that, if you take a look at my site http://www.fanfictionworld.org you'll see what I mean by blocks, maybe with the blocks you havant inizialised them if its a new install (go to admin-->blocks to do this)

This is a little confusing ... are you the top level admin? It should usually show four rows of links.

admin.php?action=characters

If you go there, what happens?

Maybe it's something to do with your skin? In any case a way around it is to go to Admin->Categories and from there you can click on characters and add to certain categories.

Or you could go to Admin->Panel and see if Characters are listed there. If it is the Type should be A-Admin. If not click the Edit link and make sure it's:

Name:  Characters
Title: Characters
URL to Panel:
Level: 2
Hidden:
Type: A

When I go to Admin -> Categories -> Characters I just get an empty template, but I think you identified something fishy with what you said next, babaca!  I don't have a "Characters" listed with A-Admin, though I do have it listed under B-Browse.  How do I get it back?

Redownload the eFiction 3 download, unzip it and reupload it to your site. It sounds like some files are missing.

(You do not have to reupload TinyMCE if it's working)

*nods*  Good idea, Jan.  Are there any files I shouldn't replace, as to not affect my skin and the alterations I've made?

upload everything except the skins folder, the install folder, and tinymce (maybe images folder if you placed any custom images there).

...What on earth!  I re-downloaded eFiction 3.3.1, unzipped, and reuploaded all the files and folders babaca said. It had absolutely no effect.

Should I try creating a new Character panel with the settings babaca specified above, or would that make things worse?
