Version of eFiction: 3.3.1
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: N/A
Version of PHP: 2.10.0.2
Version of MySQL: 5.0.45
Have you searched for your problem: Yes
If so, what terms did you try: Can't log in
State the nature of your problem: I can't log in after I've installed it. This is my first time ever installing eFiction.
After I log in, it gives me an Error Message:
Error! We encountered an error. Please go back and try again.
No matter how many times I retry, it doesn't work. I've deleted the install folder and everything checked out during install.
Do you have a test account for us? No
Um...if you really running such an out of date version of php, I'd say that's the problem. However since you are running a fairly new version of MySQL, I'd say you made a mistake. Please double check and let us know if we need to investigate further.
You might have to reupload the user.php file because it can't register or log in period. Otherwise I would have suggest going to
http://evenstar.starlithost.info/fanfiction/user.php?action=lostpassword
and have the script send you temporary password so you can get it.

It won't let me go to any of the login-related pages; it just gives me the error. I did re-upload the user.php file.
I can't really help the outdated version of php, so that's out of the question.
Should I just reinstall?
If you really are running that version of php, then you can't run efiction. However, I suspect that's your version of phpMyAdmin and not php.
Try reinstalling. If that doesn't work, go to the downloads page and download the phpinfo file and double check your version of php. That file will definitely give you the correct version.
Alrighty, reinstall didn't work. And yes, that was the version of PhpMyAdmin, I got it mixed up.
Apparently, my PHP version is 5.2.4.
What I don't understand is how 4images works, but not eFiction *blink*
EDIT:
For some reaons, when I try to go to things such as user/login.php or user/lostpassword.php, I am redirected to the following site: http://prophp.org/blog/
Could this have something to do with it? Or is that supposed to happen?
I still get the"Error! We encountered an error. Please go back and try again." message.
I don't get redirected. Try re-uploading the Blocks folder (login is one of the blocks)
Do you have your config.php file chmod to 666? That might also be a factor.

The thing had un-CHMODed itself. I have no idea why.
Should the directory I have the script in (fanfiction) be CHMODed? For some reason it's set to 777 and I don't know if it should be.
Otherwise, no dice.
If you are storing files in the Stories folder the stories folder should be chmod to either 777 or 755 if your webhost can't handle 777. But did doing a chmod of 666 on the config.php file help?

No, not really.
I have CHMODed the "stories" folder to 777. Seems okay. Should I just unCHMOD the main directory folder? Somehow I think that has something to do with it.
There is no such thing as unCHMODing something. You have to CHMOD it to a different setting. Try setting it to 755, though I'm not sure that it being set at 777 would cause these problems.
When you reinstalled, did you just reupload the files? Try a full reinstall, which would consist of deleting your database and starting over from scratch.
Use phpMyAdmin to check your panels table. Seems like you've got two entries for the profile panels at least. That error seems to indicate that you're missing the user panels. You should also check the user/ folder. The files may be missing.
