URL to your eFiction: http://www.fanmedia.org
Version of eFiction: 3.0.1 fresh install
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: no
Version of PHP: I dont know how to find out
Version of MySQL: I believe it was MySQL 3.0
Have you searched for your problem: yes
If so, what terms did you try: blocks, active blocks, inactive blocks, blocks update
Have you looked at the FAQs: yes, found several threads referring to it but their solutions didnt help me.
State the nature of your problem: Blocks that i recently initialized do not show up when set to active.  blocks I no longer want to see won't change.  When I go to the menu option to change my links some, none of them will update to reflect the changes I have made.

To try to remedy it I changed to a default skin of csszen and tried several others but the problem remains no matter which skin is used.  I've tried refreshing and returning to change and submit but there were no changes.

About 4-5 threads down from this one is the answer to this problem.  The one labeled "MOVED: Blocks Not Showing".

The problem isn't fixed yet although I read the other topic.  I used the default skin to test this and it still won't allow me to fix the menu and add new links to it.

Well first Marauders is NOT a 3.0 skin and the author has stated that it isn't going to be updated to 3.0.  So that one isn't going to work.  Change your site skin to one of the 3.0 skins included in the download then we'll figure out what else is wrong.  The next step will be for you to tell me exactly which blocks you're trying to add and where.

I fixed the problem with a little bit of script reading and editing addresses in the php files.  I didn't realize Marauders wasn't a 3.0 until you told me so since installing it had fixed the other errors that the previous skin caused.  I've another problem since then but I'll start  anew thread or look for the answer a little longer first.

You really shouldn't need to edit anything in the php files.  If you did, I'll bet you haven't really solved the problem.

I only edited the php in the header and index files to make minor adjustments.  In header I put

<br /><br />

<img src=""skins/Marauders/images/poll.jpg"" border="0" alt="Poll" /><br />
<div class="brief">{poll_content}</div>

so that the poll would show up and a similar change for the shoutboard after taking the raw header jpg layers to make a new header tag.  The only other edit I made was to the menu listing because it simply wouldn't acknowledge I had added and removed certain main links to the navigation, and then they showed up/disappeared.

I hope that wasn't a bad idea and won't FUBAR it.

That is the incorrect place to edit, you need to be editting your .tpl files, not the header.php file. Each skin has a seperate .tpl file that you need to edit with that information.

Well, you're still using Marauders, which is a 2.0 skin and won't work properly with 3.0. Reinstall the default skins and then if you're still having the problem, start a new thread.

Using Zenlike as a default at the moment and the problem was still there but just posting to report all problems solved right now.  I searched a little more into the search and found a thread where the problem was mentioned and it was just a conflict in the classifications because of me using the word 'type'
