URL to your eFiction:  www.fehrdreams.net/index.php
Version of eFiction:  3.0.1
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?:  No
Version of PHP: 4.3.11
Version of MySQL: 4.1.20
Have you searched for your problem:  Yes (and I did see the recent post regarding this same problem.  I have tried to upload the index.php again into the root directory but it does not fix the problem.  It still shows up blank, even after downloading a clean copy of the software again.)
If so, what terms did you try:  blank index page
Have you looked at the FAQs:  Yes
State the nature of your problem:   My index.php shows up blank when I try to access my efiction site.

Thank you in advance for your help!  πŸ™‚

Is this a new install or an upgrade? It's not the index page.  You can't see any of the pages.  It's probably another file that didn't get loaded correctly or something else that wasn't installed properly.  Check for files with a file size of 0.  Other than the main index.php all the others should be file size 0, any other files with file size 0 need to be re-uploaded.

New install

It's not the index page.  You can't see any of the pages.  It's probably another file that didn't get loaded correctly or something else that wasn't installed properly.

There is one file that did not get loaded properly, but I didn't know if it was related to this issue so I had planned to address it in a separate post.  However, I'll mention it here and I can still do a separate post if you prefer.

The file '_vti_cnf' within 'tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/fullscreen/images/_vti_cnf'  did not load, nor will it.  I have tried to upload this file several times and I keep getting a "forbidden command argument" error.

Check for files with a file size of 0.  Other than the main index.php all the others should be file size 0, any other files with file size 0 need to be re-uploaded.

I checked all folders pertaining to the efiction upload and as far as I can see everything is there other than the _vti_cnf file.

That _vti_cnf file can be ignored.  It's something FrontPage puts in things.  You don't need it.  If you know how to use phpMyAdmin go in and check that there is a PREFIXfanfiction_blocks in there where PREFIX is the prefix you assigned for your tables.  After you find that table, browse through it and see if there's any data in it.

Sadly, I'm still rather new with using phpMyAdmin.Β  I'm looking at it right now and I do see a table called fanfiction_blocks, but I'm uncertain what you mean about the PREFIX part.

What kind of data am I looking for?

Thanks for your help and your patience with me.

If you'd assigned a prefix to the tables that would be in the name.  Click on the "Browse" tab and you should see a table full of data.

Okay, I got it and yes, there is a table full of data.

There are 9 block id's:

I'm hoping you mean block_name there.

Yes, I'm sorry.  Those are under block_name.

I have:

block_id
block_name
block_title
block_file
block_status
block_variables

Hooray!  I fixed it!

I didn't see the post made by LtleMsInnocent earlier, but I did just a few minutes ago.  I followed your advice:

Go into your settings table and edit the setting for maintenance to be 0 instead of 1

And it worked.  I can now bring up my index.php page.

Thank you very much!  πŸ˜€
