I may have to down grade from 3.1 to 3.0 I'm not entirely sure...the reason is:
Everytime I enter text into a few custom pages and stories I get the text returned at the top with a mysql error and on the preview page (for stories) and on the customs to modify... the errors I get are:

I reported this as a bug but now I don't think it is...maybe it's a glitch...anyone know how to get rid of it?

What version of mysql are you using?
I'll assume you are up to date with the patches?
Have you modified your eFiction in any way?

ok I switched off show debug info (my php info says I don't have debug mode), I'm using mysql 4.2.1

I was in maintenance mode doing my changes and first story...I switched that off too...and no I've not modified anything but the skins....
But now I switched off both...it seems to work properly sorry about bugging you...I should have checked with my debug mode in php settings first...I'm just use to having debug mode on for mysql writing
