Okay this is driving me nutsoid! I added a story to my archive lastnight and found it went into a TOP LEVEL category. Thinking I accidentally forgot to set the category, I deleted it and clicked on Add New Story...to my surprise there is NO category selection to add my story to but my categories are there! I have 7 different top level categories and a few with subcategories...so when I readded my story I simply left it in the first top level category (where it went automatically last time) until I can figure out what's going on.
I've searched the forums, I've read the admin manual, I've checked my blocks and settings.
I even set my blocks to read multiple columns in categories (but I only want one column so it's category name and count, description on a new line and so on...one under another.
In my settings I have ONE column--if I put in more than one my categories sit next to each other...but anyways, that has NOTHING to do with my problem...
My point is, no matter what I click, set, alter etc. my add story will NOT show choose a category...I'm not even using the Tiny w-what's-it editor...but you can see for yourself with:

I've not changed the stories.php file--I've had no reason to. So why is it NOT reading? Also auto-validate submissions is ON, also I've allowed members to add to the archive so the unsolicited option is switched on/off whatever it is for members to contribute. so this also has nothing to do with it
Also as a side note...why does the captcha image disappear on the contact forms when a member is logged in? (Curious)

Did you check your admin settings? Seems to me like you've got your site set to have only one category.
*Bangs head on keyboard* Oops sorry it seems I missed it in site settings >_< goddess I'm such a doofus! Sorry for causing trouble...just delete this topic...I feel like such a noob! Well that's what I get for not playing with efiction for a while and doing this late at night....
