Hi all. I know there were a couple people interested in a block that displays an RSS feed. I'm happy to say that I've got this working - partially. You can see it on my test site, here: http://efictiontest.verilyviridian.com/index.php?skin=PhotoboothNEW (only on that skin). I'm now working on building the admin options area for two things: to limit the number of entries, and to be able to enter the URL of the feed. The first I can't do at all at the moment, the second can obviously be done, but only by editing the files. I'm now running into trouble due to my lack of knowledge on how the blocks & tpls and all that interact.
What I'm wondering is if there is anyone who would like to help me test this, or even help with with the things I mentioned. If so, just let me know!
I wouldn't mind helping! π

Okay! I will send you what I've got.
I've now got a version of this working, admin options and all. If anyone would like to beta test this for me, please let me know.
I'd be willing to beta test it. It's a feature I've been interesting in adding myself π

Okay. : ) I found a bug, so once I deal with it then I will send you a copy. Where would you like me to send it?
This might be a very stupid question but how is having the RSS feed block on your page different than having the recent block? Don't they both display the latest updates?

The difference is that you can insert ANY RSS feed--not just one related to the eFiction script. For example, I have added the RSS feed for the downloads site I post my fanvids and podfic to. It's quite convenient.
Exactly right. I originally wanted to make it for a site I manage that started as an LJ group and continues to post fandomy news and such there. Now they have the feed block on the index of their eFic site that shows what's going on at the LJ group.
