How do I mod my registration/user page so that the labels for all the input text boxes stay on one line? Right now, they end up going to the next line in certain skins and browsers, and then you can't tell where to put in your information:

Can you give me an example of a skin it's doing that on?

I suspect you can edit user/editbio.php and give the form an id (I'm doing this for 3.3 now that you've brought it up) and then style the <div>'s inside the form.

#editbio DIV {
  white-space: nowrap;
}

or maybe:

#editbio DIV {
  clear: both;
}

In Firefox it shows up on the laughs skin, right after FictionAlley Forum ID number:

Same with the Hedwig skin:

In Opera it shows up on all the skins, really bad:

On IE 7.0, the boxes are not lined up the same way, so it's readable but it looks really disorganized. The input boxes are on the same line as their left aligned labels, and they start only a space afterwards. On other skins the labels are right aligned, and the text boxes left aligned, or something.

I'll try the fix after the Voyager episode that's starting now. πŸ˜€

Try:

margin: 1ex auto; clear: both;

That seems to work in IE, FF, and Opera for me.
