URL to your eFiction: http://www.savingsarasidle.com/fanfiction (not working ATM)
Version of eFiction: 3.5
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: No
Version of PHP: 5.2.8
Version of MySQL: 5.0.67
Have you searched for your problem: Yes
If so, what terms did you try: Re-install
State the nature of your problem: While trying to delete an extra FTP account for another administrator under my cPanel, it also deleted all of the files in my directory. I'm wondering if someone could give me a walk through as to how to re-install eFiction while using my current database, without overwriting anything.

I did this for my SMF using the "repair_settings.php" tool. Is there a tool like this for eFiction? Or do I just simply edit the config file to match my current database settings?
Do you have a test account for us? No

There is no tool, but I've set up copies of my site on other servers, which is the same thing.  I was thinking about writing a wiki entry for this, so here goes.  (It's a good beginning.)

1. Download eFic if you don't already have it.
2. Upload all the files.
3. Delete the install folder and install.php.  You're not technically installing, since you already have the database.
4. With eFic 3.5, you'll want to edit/replace the stories.php file, but I think you already know this.
5. You'll find the config.php file in the docs folder.  Move it and fill in your database connection info.  The sitekey can been found in fanfiction_settings.
6. Optionally create the stories folder.  See below.
7. Not applicable to you, but maybe to others who have the same problem: If you upload a newer version of eFic than you had before, you'll be prompted to run the update.  That's normal - you're actually updating your site to the new version now.

That's about it.  Were your stories saved in the database or in the stories folder?  If it was the stories folder, you're in trouble.  You'll have to upload it from a backup, and if it's older, then it'll be out of sync.  Any story uploaded after the backup was created will still be there, but have no story text whatsoever.

You'll also have to replace all your custom skins.

I think that's it but if I think of anything else I'll come back and put it.

Are you storing your stories in the database? If not, immediately email your host and ask them to restore the files you deleted from backup. Hopefully they will have it. Otherwise, you'll have lots of stories in the database with no text.

Lucky for me there were only 3 stories. We just started out.
How can I delete the stories?
This way the authors can just add them and have their words be there  πŸ˜‰

When you're logged in as admin and are viewing the stories you should see the admin links to delete them.

Hmm. Maybe I wasn't logged in. I saw that, but it was grayed out.

That's odd.  I've never seen it be greyed out.  If you can't do the option, then it doesn't appear, normally.  Did you figure it out now?
