Version of MySQL: can be found out from your host - MySQL version 4
Have you searched for your problem: yes
If so, what terms did you try:rating appear
State the nature of your problem: the rating on the story does not appear, it's blank
(adm test  account)
nick:test
pass: test1

Hi!

As always seconds before I can say my site ii's ready another problem appears. Unfortunatly I'm not sure if this is happening since I installed efiction...

Anyway, if you visit my site you can see that the rating (translated to "restrições" ) of the story "teste"does not appear.

however in the random stories block it appears just fine,someone knows what the problem can be?

I'm afraid that could bea mysql problem, earlier I changes the validation letters title on mysq, maybe I changed something? I was checking it already but I'm afraid to change more things without intention again -_-'

Thanks!

If it shows up one place and doesn't in another, it's almost certainly a problem in your skin.

thanks for the support xD

I have different skins, and in the three the rating does not appear...the only thing I have on the skin concerning the details of the story it's the recent block on index.tpl, here:

<div class="block">
      <div class="title">{news_title}</div>
      <div class="content">{news_content}</div>
<!-- START BLOCK : recentblock -->
      <b>Mais Recentes:</b>
      <div class="recentbox">
      <div class="title">{title} por {author}</div>
      <div class="content"><span class="label">Resumo: </span>{featuredstory}{summary}<br />
      <span class="label">Restrição:</span> {rating} {score}<br />
      <span class="label">Categorias:</span> {category} <br />
      {classifications}
      <span class="label">Capítulos:</span> {numchapters} <br />
      <span class="label">Série:</span> {serieslinks}<br />
      <span class="label"> Publicado: </span>{published} <span class="label">Actualizado:</span> {updated} </div>
      </div>
        <!-- END BLOCK : recentblock -->

here's the listing.php from default_tpl

<!-- START BLOCK : listings -->
{seriesheader}
<!-- START BLOCK : seriesblock -->
<div class="listbox {oddeven}">
<div class="title">{title} por {author}{score} [{reviews} - {numreviews}]</div>
<div class="content"><span class="label">Resumo: </span>{summary}<br />
<span class="label">Séries Parentes:</span> {parentseries}<br />
<span class="label">Categorias:</span> {category}<br />
<span class="label">Personagens: </span>{characters}<br />
{classifications}
<span class="label">Fanfics:</span> {numstories}<br />
<span class="label">Abrir:</span> {open} {addtofaves} {reportthis}
{adminoptions}</div>
</div>
{comment}
<!-- END BLOCK : seriesblock -->
{stories}
<!-- START BLOCK : storyblock -->
<div class="listbox {oddeven}">
<div class="title">{title} por {author} <span class="label">Restrição:</span> {rating} {roundrobin} {score} [{reviews} - {numreviews}] {new} </div>
<div class="content"><span class="label">Resumo: </span>{featuredstory}{summary}<br />
<span class="label">Categorias:</span> {category} <br />
<span class="label">Personagens: </span> {characters}<br />
{classifications}
<span class="label">Série:</span> {serieslinks}<br />
<span class="label">Capítulos: </span> {numchapters} {toc}<br />
<span class="label">Completo:</span> {completed}
<span class="label">Nº palavras:</span> {wordcount} <span class="label">Lido:</span> {count}
{adminlinks}</div>
<div class="tail"><span class="label">{addtofaves} {reportthis} Publicado: </span>{published} <span class="label">Actualizado:</span> {updated}</div>
</div>
{comment}
<!-- END BLOCK : storyblock -->
{pagelinks}
<!-- END BLOCK : listings -->

I think this problem started after I changed my translation od "rating", but I already made sure I changes in all the language files too, and it's everything fine on page links and panels

Hey your site's in maintenance mode even after I log in with your test info, so I can't see for myself. But you've got {rating} in both places, so it should be working in both places. One thing to check would be to look in Admin > Page Links to make sure that the 'name' field for what now has 'Text of Link' of "Restrição" is actually still "rating". If it's something other than "rating," then you have to change that in your skins.

the site it's open now if you wish to see it 😉

In page link I have in the name_rating , ratings.

But when I change the skin to {ratings} like you suggested instead of the rating on the table of contest it appears the word "restrições" instead of the rating itself, if you click on it it appears a page with the different ratings.

I tried to change in the page link instead and chande the "ratings" to what says in my skin "rating", but that makes the field blank o.o

edited: in page Link are just the link to the search riht? I mean, there's not there {category}, just {categories} and that's to se list of categories page. howewer the {category} from the skins still works.

That makes me think that at least one of your ratings is "restrições". When you go to Admin > Ratings, what ratings are listed there?

just G, PG, PG-13, ...., not "restrições"

I don't unerstand why it's supposed to appear a {rating} in Page links because for example  there's not there {category}, just {categories} and that's to see the page with all the categories. howewer the {category} from the skins still works.

You're right. Sorry, I've been running in and out of the house all day and only popping in quickly here and there. The page link is something different. It's for if you wanted to put in the menu or anywhere else and I think how it appears in Browse. That's why it appeared the way it did when you changed it.

So looking at this browse page: http://tokiohotelfictionpt.com/browse.php?type=ratings What I see is that when you click PG-13 that stories appear, so it looks like the stories are actually being assigned their rating correctly, but it's just not appearing in the skin for some reason. I've got to go out again now, but I'll take a look at it when I get back.

Incidentally the MPAA doesn't like it when others use their rating system, and eFiction sites have actually gotten C&Ds and the like from them, so you should probably use another system. There's a thread about this somewhere, I think it General Discussion or something.

Okay, thanks for that! (maybe another mysql problem? o.O)
I will stick with these ratings by now because people here don't deal well with the fanfiction.net yeat, are more used do the MPAA ones, even If I realize it's a risk I have to take, thanks for the warning though xD

It could be a MySQL problem, but it's odd that it's only happening for ratings. Double-check fanfiction_ratings? I'm currently having a mental block on where the {rating} variable in the TPLs comes from.

PS I uploaded a test story just to make sure, in case it was an old problem only appearing on older stories (maybe they were set funny or something). It's not validated but it seems like it's not working there either because nothing appears when I preview/edit it.

I'm not currently seeing the output of {rating} anywhere on the site. Are you?

I was searching for a while after your last answer and I don't see the output of the rating either.

I saw your upload, I didn't need to validate it because I did uploade some newt ests a coulple of times too after changing a setting  and the new stories always come up the same (but I validated anywayjust to be sure and the rating problem is there too)

I dind't see any warning in fanfiction_ratings, but in case I'm not getting it right:

The setup of the database table looks perfectly fine. The other place to look would be to make sure the field 'rating' in fanfiction_stories is right.

As for {rating}, there's got to be a tpl->assign or something somewhere in one of the PHP files. It might be interesting to look at that bit of code. Unless I'm missing something in the admin control panel. So far all I find are {ratings}, which we've established is different. : P

😆 I feel kind of bad I keep giving random print screens and you do all the thinking  😐
I gave a look at the files before but what I found made me afraid to mess up something, like I did with mysql

fanfiction_stories it's like this at the moment, it seems everything is fine too:

http://tinypic.com/r/2qn1lah/5

http://tinypic.com/r/2wqv794/5

if this file it's found it would be possible to try to upload it again ?

Huh, so, this doesn't mean much, but for informational purposes I think that the fanfiction_stories.rating field doesn't have to do with the rating of the story like G, PG, etc., but it has to do with the ratings system that's part of reviews (which I've never used but I think is a percentage or something). Because fanfiction_stories has the field rid, which is the review ID, which is how it pulls it from fanfiction_ratings.

Anyway, I think I found where {rating} is created. It's in a chunk of code that starts around line 37 of includes/storyblock.php.

$tpl->assign("rating"  , $ratingslist[$stories['rid']]['name']);

That's at least for anything that actually includes includes/storyblock.php. I think I'll have to ponder this one a little more before I can come up with any solutions. In the meantime if you don't have any custom modifications, you might reupload all the eFiction files over the existing copies on your server. Maybe something wasn't uploaded properly.

it's working now! ^^

the first thing I did after to read your answer was to upload storyblock.php again - I am surprised that it worked so simply at the end

once again, thank you so much for the support, you're great  🙂
