Is there any way i can get the random story to pull into another page outside of efiction. Similar to what cmpfetch does with the coppermine?

Write a little script or somehow pull the random story script that efiction uses to make that random story summary and link show on another html page or php page using some kind of inclue, outside of efiction? Or is that just completely impractical?

thanks
jacci

You can do it.  You can use the random block as a base.  You'd need to build the connection to the database and probably "echo" the content rather than send it to the $output variable.  It would mostly depend on the system your "main" site is using.

BTW, this is probably better in mod requests....

thanks tammy, that for me is probably a bit too sophisticated for me right now, but it is something i might be interested in looking at later.

Sorry, didnt realise this woudl fall in the mod section. If someone could move it there, woudl appreciate that

thanks

To butcher it and make it more simple, you could just make a link off-site to a custom page that had a link to the random story block on a page by itelf, or a Random Story link. Like so:

http://www.potionsandsnitches.net/fanfiction/viewpage.php?page=random1

I have a random story link mod from Steve.

^ The Random Story link is an old mod [for 1.1?], though, right?

(is looking for a 'random.php')

Is it up for public use?
