I want to rearrange the profile fields in the Edit Bio page to make all the journal type things be together, ect.

Is the best way to do that changing the ID number of the item in fanfiction_authorfields and fanfiction_authorinfo?

Can you explain it any further? I actually want to arrange the whole profile page like Livejournal info page with the profile icon etc., but i think it requires a little skinning.

Are you talking about the Edit Bio page or the actual Profile page of a member?

Oh yeah, both actually, the LJ thing should be with the actual profile page. I guess you were talking about the edit bio page, right?

Yes, I was talking about the actual Edit Bio page. You have to know how to use phpmyadmin to change it, and not mind messing your archive up. it's pretty complicated. You have to change the order of the different profile items in your database, and then change the number of every single one of them in the table that saves the info for every user. I don't suggest you do it. It's best done on an archive with less than 5 members.

The member profile is much easier. It's changing a skin, so I  suggest that you read up on edited skins on the docs that came with your download, and check the already open posts on the forum about that one.

Why isn't there a way to re-order info via the admin? I recently went into the database to change the bio page (figuring I had to since I couldn't find it in the admin) and had no idea that the actual information was in a separate table before switching around the IDs. Of course I forgot the original order and finally decided to just delete everything from authorinfo table after several minutes of trying to identify types of information (beta reader and website were easy, but the rest...). I have since then apologized to the people who'd input info and would rather not go through this again on one of my other archives.

There probably isn't a way to edit this in the admin panel because there never was one. In eFiction version 2, you had to hand edit the user.php code if you wanted to reorder the way different information is displayed in the sign up and edit bio page. It was a MAJOR headache.

Moving the code from the actual php page to the database is a major step up! Now you don't have to remod all your files every time a new fix or version comes out, and it's soo easy to add new profile information for your archive. I used to try and add stuff, and I'd 'break' my site every time, playing a "let's do this and see if it works', while no one could even access the site as I tinkered.

We can't expect Tammy to have thought of everything that might possibly happen with every part of the code, or every archive. I consider myself lucky that we even have this much, considering where we were, and how much else she has done to improve the code in so many other ways.

I didn't mean to sound ungrateful, merely curious. I do appreciate the newest version of eFiction. It's very easy to use and to make it your own. Version 2 was great as well and I like how many things remained the same as it made the transition easier.

I still plan to change my other archive since it's still small. I'll definitely remember to write down the original order of the profile fields this time.
