URL to your eFiction: http://repeateddestiny.com/fanfictiontesting (just a test site)
Version of eFiction: 3.5.1
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: no
Version of PHP: don't know how to check. I'm on dreamhost so...
Version of MySQL: again, I must be having a stupid night as I don't know how to check (I just know it's 5 something)
Have you searched for your problem: off and on but never found a solution
If so, what terms did you try: mostly tried searching for various parts of the errors I'm getting
State the nature of your problem: I'm having a TON of errors while logged in as admin (never see any while logged in as a non-admin, however). There are honestly too many to list. The most recent one I've gotten is this:
Notice: Undefined variable: au in /home/.melba/rdanime/repeateddestiny.com/fanfictiontesting/admin/validate.php on line 101
I got it while attempting to validate a test story I had posted. I get others now and then but, like I said, only while logged in as admin. The strange thing is, whatever I'm trying to do at the time works despite the errors. So, even though I got an error when I tried to validate the story, the story was still validated and was live on the site. I've tried deleting everything (including my database) and starting over from scratch at least three times and still the same problems. I'm beginning to wonder if this is normal (which I hope it isn't because it's very troublesome)
Do you have a test account for us? not at the moment (as the problems are only in an admin account) but I could make one if need be.
Thanks in advance for any help!! If I stumble back across the other errors I'm getting, I'll try to post them here as well.
a few more:
Notice: Undefined variable: alist in admin/maintenance.php on line 75
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in admin/maintenance.php on line 75
(both of the above when trying to re-calculate stories)
Is debug turned on? You might be getting errors through that.

I'm pretty sure it's as Jenny said...this is a common newbie occurrence.
https://efiction.org/wiki/index.php5?title=Troubleshooting#When_to_use_Debug
When to use Debug
However, the Debug setting is not meant to be 'on' if you don't need it. If you are seeing errors that are not there when Debug is 'off', then simply turn Debug 'off' if you don't need it.
What they said. Typically if it's a notice then you don't have to worry about it too much. They can be useful, however, when you're debugging. So if something's not working, then they might be useful, but if everything's working fine, then ignore them. A lot of time they'll be Template Power warnings. Template Power is what is used to make skins work, so you'll see similar messages when, for instance, you don't have the skin variables appearing on pages the script thinks they should (even though everything is perfectly fine).
And for the one on the maintenance, did you have any stories when you tried that? That error would occur when you're trying to recalculate nothing.
Oh, ok. I just had debug on because I'm new to the script and wanted to make sure everything was working ok. I just assumed that if it was going to give me errors that meant something was messed up somewhere (even if everything appeared to be working)... apparently this is not the case? I guess I'll turn it off then, I'm just a paranoid personality so it showing me errors made me freak out lol.
Tammy, I did have one story posted (I had just posted one to see if everything was working) but it wasn't being listed on the front page. That's why I was running the maintenance. But now that you mention it... I'm not sure if it had been verified... would that cause that error as well?
Debug will show ALL errors...even notices which aren't really errors just sort of "hey you should check this" type things. They're generally caused by variables that are being called without being set.
And yes, if it wasn't verified it wouldn't have been counted as a story yet. That function recalculates all the public information. If the story isn't verified/validated then it's hidden.
Ok, that makes since. I feel much better now lol! Thanks for your help!! π
