URL to your eFiction: http://worldsfinest.comicslash.com/archive/index.php
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: No.
Version of PHP: can be found out from your host 4.3.9
Version of MySQL: can be found out from your host 4.1.20
Have you searched for your problem: (yes/no) Yes
If so, what terms did you try: I looked at all upgrade support posts for 3.3
State the nature of your problem: Copy and paste any errors you are receiving. See below.
Do you have a test account for us? No, do you need one?

I was wondering if someone could be so kind as to advise me on a problem I'm having with the info block after my upgrade from 3.2 to 3.3:

The info on the front page of the site now says this after the ugrade:

We are the home of 55 authors from among our 355 members. There have been 0 reviews written about our 1 stories consisting of 329 chapters and 776520 words.

The reviews count and the stories count have been reset.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

BTW, I have the debug selection on in the settings panel, but it doesn't seem as if any debug information is showing up. I'm...not sure if this is a problem too.

Try admin>recalculate site statistics to fix the messed up review and story counts.

Debugging information generally only shows up in the source code.

Ah. I could have sworn that in 3.2, whenever I turned on debug, I got a whole string of info showing up in the title bar of the webpage. I'm glad I don't have to worry about that. :))

Try admin>recalculate site statistics to fix the messed up review and story counts.

I tried this, and I also tried "recalculate reviews". No luck. πŸ™

Hi Jan, I'm sorry but that bug discussion went way over my head. Is there something I should do to fix this on an existing archive that I upgraded or should I just wait?

Thanks and sorry for being so dense about this.

Check the site key listed in your database for

fanfiction_settings and fanfiction_stats

and make sure they match.

In both tables, the sitekey is VkGtW3Anv2.

Try reuploading the info block files. They should be in the block folder. Unzip the files from the efiction33 zip file and replace them just to be sure.

Okay, I did this, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. I also tried the recalc functions again and no dice. πŸ™

It seems that the counter is working for those two stats (reviews and number of stories) prospectively, but it's not counting the old stuff already in the archive. Is there a way for me to set those stats to start counting from the number I know should be in there? (instead of counting from 1, counting from 300, let's say)

You can edit the stats in the database and put your own number in there.

Is this something I should do, or should I wait for some sort of fix? I don't want to cause some other problem by mucking with something that is supposed to work automatically.

And, if I do change the base number, is there a way in one of these tables for me to know the actual number of reviews in the database and the number of stories, without me having to count them by hand?

Thanks!

Changing the numbers on the stats won't really cause you any problems and it should correct the problem for you in the future. The script doesn't recount everytime a story is uploaded, it just adds 1 to the current.

You should be able to look at the number of rows in various tables to get the correct numbers without counting.

Okay. I'll try this then. Thank you very much for your help.

But if there ever is a real fix for this problem, could you let me know? I would appreciate it. πŸ™‚ Thanks!

Copy the site key info from the database table fanfiction_settings and paste it into the database table fanfiction_stats for the sitekey. It will otherwise say SITEKEY.

3.3 has a problem with the sitekey not saving in new installations and upgrades. That should fix it.

Don't forget to recalculate site statistics afterwards.
