I tried searching for this, but came up with nothing. So...
Is there a way to add a link to the bottom of the news section of the site that takes you to the previous news entries? Right now, it cuts off at the number of news items you select to display, but there is no way of reading back further. I see when you go to add or edit news items, all previous news entries are still there. So, how can I add that display feature on the index page?

You're talking about the news block on the index page which only lists the most recent news. Use {newsarchive} in your index.tpl to add a link to the actual news page where you can see all the news items.
