I'm a new eFiction user and fairly new to mySQL and PHP. In other words, I have no clue what's going on. I can modify simple things, but that's about it.
Anyway, this is a problem that feels like an isolated incident, as I have not really seen it anywhere else.
On occasion, when I go to hit preview or add story, my screen "freaks out". All the text and html from the previous screen ends up in a huge block of text at the top, above my skin header. (The skin I'm using is DarkWater by GokuGirl.) However, as I scroll down, the Preview screen looks fine. My story details are intact.
Since it doesn't happen all the time, I have to wonder if it's the code, the skin I'm using or just bad luck on my part. I don't know what it is. Anyone have any idea as to what I might have done wrong in they process of uploading files?
I'm moving this out of the bugs forum to general support. Please go look at the support request template. You need to supply the information requested there before we can attempt to help you.
Okay, my bad. I never was good at reading the rules first. I hope this post is more satisfactory and more helpful to explaining my problem?
Here's a link: http://www.boredcollegestudent.com/d_or_c/stories.php?action=newchapter&sid=5&inorder=2
Now, um, I'm not sure how helpful the link will be. The error seems to disappear after I click on the Home link or go to a different page. Anyway, I entered the text for my story, I hit "Preview" and then the preview screen goes wonky. Depending on the skin, I either get all the text from the previous screen loitering above the header or blanketing the background.
At the end of the story text, I see this:
[endnotes] => [submit] => Preview -->
That 'endnotes, submit, preview' thing is tacked onto the end of my story text. I have a feeling if you hit that link above, the preview screen will look fine. That, and it doesn't happen every time. Sometimes I hit Preview and the screen is normal.
I hope I was able to articulate that clearly enough. π Like I said, I'm new to this stuff.
I can't replicate this on your site. I'd suggest you try changing your skin and turn debug off. My best guess is that you've got a stray tag half opened somewhere in the skin.
Alright, I'll try that. Thank you.
