Thank you for your help.

Go into Admin > Profile Information. If beta-reader's in there but turned off, turn it on. If it's gone completely, here's the info as it appears at my site (I think it's default).
Name: betareader
Title: beta-reader
Field enabled: checked
Type: Yes/No
Thanks for your answer but I already have this field working. I was talking about preferences. You know when you can choose to receive e-mail when you have a review or when your fave autor post new story.
There is normally the possibility to check "I would like to volunteer to be a beta-reader for others" but I haven't it.
That sounds custom. Mine just says "beta-reader: Yes No". Someone changed that in the Profile Information settings or something.

Were you using Tammy's mod called Beta Reader?

I don't use that mod, but maybe you need to download it and see if this is what you were using before.

Mucking around in eFiction since circa 2001 (ver. 1.0)
Now running v.3
I've got the beta reader module and all it does is add an option to the members list to view those who have agreed to be a beta reader, using the default field which I described. Also it creates a couple of more variables for skins, so for instance I now have in my site info "We are the home of 678 authors and 702 beta readers from among our 14670 members."
It's in PROFILE not PREFERENCES.
