Hi  πŸ™‚

Well I'm having some problems with my webhost (HostDime), they're saying browse.php is using too much resources of CPU.
I've commented out the line that includes characters in listings, changed the lists from 10 to 5 stories per page, but they blocked my site again for the same reason.

My site have around 70 ~150 visitors at the same site (around 2.500/day), but I don't think that's enough to have such problems.
Anyone getting the same problem? How many visitors your eFiction site have?  .-.

Thanks in advance Γ³__Γ²
Seiji.

Did they say what was using too many resources in browse.php?  Specifically which queries?  I can't see it being very resource intensive.  The characters and categories are one call to the database and then stored in an array.  If anything members.php would be more resource intensive.  The only reason why browse.php would be more resource intensive than the others is that it's probably being called 10 times more often than any other page.

I haven't had any problems with browse.php, but as Tammy suggested possible, my hosting company did take issue with authors.php.  At the time we had somewhere around 10,000 members, so that's why.

According to the stats we have about 75,500 hits per day and 2300 unique visits daily.  Hope that helps.

Sorry for taking a long time to answer, I've been very busy these days >"<

Tammy, they didn't said much about the problem, only told me that browser.php was using too many resources. Took some look at pagesetup.php and the characters are stored in an array as you said, but we have like 1,350 characters in database, could it be the problem? :/

Lyndsie, if you don't have problems with browse.php I don't know what could be ._.

I have made some modifications to eFiction but they are all included in the current queries and mostly just show up some extra info. The only change on the listings was the check if the story have an image or not and if it have been updated or added in the last 7 days.

I think I'm going nowhere without more information about the issue  >"<

Not that this is very helpful but I've heard some pretty bad reviews about HostDime, out of curiosity, what plan are you using of theirs? Maybe you could switch to another host.
