I just wanted to re-open this, since I know there have been a number of eFiction users who seem to need non-English support including those who speak German, Spanish and Italian. I think maybe it's time that Non-English support comes around.

I agree.  I've definitely tried to help someone in Spanish in the last couple of weeks.

Also, maybe we should call in for volunteer help in translating eFiction into the different language packs, or rather updating the existing ones.

French is my first language so I'd be happy to help in any way I can. πŸ™‚

So, out of curiosity I was looking through Drumy's language file (Spanish), and I only found one obvious difference between the 3.4.2 language file and the 3.5.  (Line 364 in 3.5, or _NOSUCHACCOUNT, for the curious.)

Does anyone know if anything else was changed?  I just did a really quick check and saw the extra line.  I'm just wondering if anyone knows of something else maybe buried in one of the long definitions was changed.

If not, then we'd just have to translate that one new line in the "User - Login" section.

define ("_NOSUCHACCOUNT", "There is no such account on our website.");

Maybe:

define ("_NOSUCHACCOUNT", "No existe esta cuenta en nuestro sitio.");

I'm super tired so not sure if either language is making sense right now...

Hm I believe I was trying to check the files the other day with WinMerge, but I can't be sure at the moment.

I think I have an English version from 3.4.2 around here somewhere to make the comparison.  I'll see.

I've opened a small german communety site a few months ago:
http://efiction.schulle4u.de
Perhaps someone could put a permanent link to this site on eFictions main page?

A list of what we've done until now:
- complete translation of the eFiction interface, blocks, modules and skins into german
- a (nearly) complete installation script. The installer itself isn't completely german, but the sample data will be written in german so that you don't have to translate these things using the admin panel after installation. (1.x/2.x upgrade scripts have not been translated since we're not supporting these versions and have no testing possibilities for this).
- provide german skins of the communety, currently 13 skins made by Nadia.
- translations of some modification articles.

Our main goals are mostly done, now we have to do some little thinks to make our work perfect. πŸ™‚ Correction of translation and spelling errors and so on. But these things need the feedback of a groving community and german eFiction users.

Steffen

I will make a non-English support forum when I return this afternoon. I will start with forums for Spanish, French, and German. Any other requests?

Hm perhaps Italian on the back burner? What about separate positions such as designated language moderators?

No one has volunteered for Italian, and I'd rather not make a forum unless someone comes forward, otherwise we could have people asking a bunch of questions in Italian that no one understands or can answer.

I'm giving this some more thought re: mods. If you'd like to volunteer, let me know! Reply here or PM.

I don't pretend to be an expert eFiction'er... but whatever I can do to help in French I will be happy to do. πŸ™‚

I can offer help in Spanish.  I'm not a native speaker (that'd be English), but I studied Spanish for about ten years and lived in Spain for a couple months.
