Are there any people who speak other languages besides English (fluently) who would be willing to offer support in those languages?

This would require some commitment on your part as the threads would need to be checked regularly to see if people are using them.

Please reply to this thread if you are interested.

Hi,

it's a great idea! 🙂 Sometimes it's difficult for non-english people like me to form their problems clearly.

My language is german and I'm checking these forums nearly every day, so I would have the time to give other german users support. I'm working with eFiction since version 1.1 and my knowledge of the application is very well I think. 🙂 I'm supervising an own archive together with a colleague and in another archive I help from time to time with technical things.
Furthermore I'm translating the script into german language.

The only thing I probably couldn't help you out is skinning support. Because I'm a blind user, my knowledge of grafical things is not the best as you may guess. 🙂

Thanks
Steffen

I'm fairly fluent in Spanish (I hold a Bachelor's in it), so if I brushed up on some of the technical terminology I could probably be of assistance.  I could at least translate since my knowledge of eFiction is not as great as I would like it to be.

I'm fairly certain there are some native Spanish speakers floating around, so if someone else steps up to the plate that is totally fine, as well.

Hi,

separate to a non-english subforum we could create whole support communities in other languages.
I'm currently planning a german eFiction community with articles, downloads and of course a small forum. Don't know if and  when it will come to public, but the homepage (based on php-fusion) is already installed at my localhost.  This is my current  to-do list:

- write some articles on how to install, configure and customice eFiction
- provide german language files.
- translate the sql-inserts which comes with the installation script so that the user don't need to manually translate  blocks, menus and panels using the admin panel.
- translate some skin templates.
- create a completely german eFiction bundle (installer, core, modules, skins) for download.
- translate some of the modification threads of eFictions english forum into german (hope that's OK for the authors?.
- and of course a support forum where users can post problems or share mods and skins.

As I said, don't know when it will come to public. For some points on my list I'll probably need help from other users. So if  anyone is interested in this idea and wants to help, don't hesitate to contact me! 🙂

**********

Steffen

I'm German, too. But I'm pretty new to eFiction myself and don't know shit about MySQL so I'm afraid I ain't gonna be much help on the support business.

@Steffen: Might get back to you in time... maybe I can help out a little; at least with translations and such.

OK germans, I think it's time to give my announced project a try:

http://efiction.schulle4u.de

The forums are already open for posting and also a few articles and FAQ have been posted and I'll upload more stuff in the next days and weeks. but the main focus of this site is on the forums and for that I need your help. 🙂
Furthermore I would be appreciated for feedback regarding the site layout. I've choosen a simple standard php-fusion theme without many colorful grafical thinks, because I think that's the best solution for a information based site like this. However, don't hesitate to contact me for voluntary help you would like to give for skinning or any other parts of this project.

Steffen

I wish that you can check this.

Use the mod development forum to post the files. You may use this template as an example. This is how I posted my german files there.

Thanks Steffen.
I will go to post these there.  🙂

I sorry. I did try, but I can't open a new threas as you tell to me. I don't have the option to open a new thread... I noted this message at the bottom:
"Sorry, the copyright must be in the template.
Please notify this forum's administrator that this site is missing the copyright message for SMF so they can rectify the situation. Display of copyright is a legal requirement. For more information on this please visit the Simple Machines website. "
I don't know if that es the problem  😕

Ah, that's because of your profile settings. You've set the language to spanish, but the spanish SMF files are not installed properly. I tried this with german and the forum gave me the same copyright errors. Please change the language setting in your profile back to english and it'll work again.
