I have a problem where I do not find a resolution.
I have a brand new apache/PHP/MySQL installation on my localhost.
I installed efiction 3.4.3. Everything went fine. I also created an Admin Account, but when I login as admin I do not get the admin control panel. So I can't create categories etc.

Can someone imagine what the problem could be?
My new installation of Apache, PHP and MySQL are:

Apache: 2.2.9 (Win32)
PHP: 5.2.6
MySQL: 5.0.5.1b-nt

My OS is Windows XP Pro incl. SP3

I controlled the configuration with my online fanfiction-archive, but there is no difference to my local installation. I have no idea, where the problem could be.
Because it is local I can't give an URL to look at it. Thanks anyway for help.

check in your authorprefs tables to see if the level for userid for 1 has the feild level set at 1. If it doesnt, then edit it to one (for top admin level). If it does have a level 1 setting already, then i am not sure what is going on there.

why is nothing ever easy?

Yes, the level was 1 in the authorprefs table, but funny thing ... the uid was 0. I changed that to 1 and now I get into the admin control panel. I am not sure if the problem is a bug in efiction or a bug in my localhost-installation. Thanks for help, jacci.

I thought so, too. But I tried the installation more than one times and it happened everytime.
At the moment I don't get a story saved in the system, but this maybe is an other topic, isn't it?

Sounds like similar problems.  Sounds like your localhost isn't returning the last insert ids.

Yes that is possible. I think I will deinstall all and reinstall all the things. I think it also could be a problem because of the latest versions of php or apache. I hear everytime there can be problem because they interpret things different than older versions... (just an idea)

I am using xampp and that installs everything you need and so far i havent had any problem at all with instaling efiction, forums, galleries etc etc and the install is dead easy and only takes a few mins.

I have a clean install - all extra - Apache, PHP, MySQL and all the things I need for testing websites, CMS's etc...
I need to know how and why something does or doesn't work. Most of times I find the problem - sometimes alone sometimes with help.  πŸ˜€
