😡
Hi,

Upton testing efiction 3.5  I made a new categories and that one was saved but it only appears on the "categories" tab it doesn't show on the main page .
Also when I added a series it does appear.

BUT when I add a stories it doesn't show up at all.
It goes like viewstory.php?sid=
I assume a number should be after sid=
What is happening?

Hi Carlie.  Could you fill out the Support Request Template?  The thread for that is stickied at the top of the board.  We really need to see a link to your site.

I think it sounds like you have to change your settings.  I think you have "Automatically validate all submissions" set to 'no'.  (This might be the default setting, not sure.)  So check under Admin > Submissions to see if the chapters you uploaded are sitting in the queue.

URL to your eFiction: fiction.dofus-universe.com
3.5:
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: None
Version of PHP: 5.2.6
Version of MySQL: 4.1.22
Have you searched for your problem: no (yes/no)
If so, what terms did you try:
State the nature of your problem: Copy and paste any errors you are receiving.
Do you have a test account for us? yes
User:
Fiction Admin
Pass: fictionpass

also in addition to stories not being saved and not having a sid the logs are gone too

I checked the setting and yes it is set to yes on Automatically validate all stories:

By the way it didnt give me an option to choose wether I wanted them in files or in the db

I checked and you didn't have your site URL set and I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it. (I changed it where it was http://yoursite.com to http://fiction.dofus-universe.com)

Also, your stories probably won't submit because you don't have any ratings set, and ratings are a required field.

When I try to add a story the rating drop box is blank.

It's blank because you haven't added one. You have to go to Admin -> Ratings -> Add New Rating, you can't add one from the submission form. I went there and everything seems just fine.

That's right, if you haven't created any ratings yet like Becca said.  You have to go to Admin > Ratings and create the ratings in there first.

ETA: Whoops, Becca beat me. : )

Adding a rating fixed the stories not having a sid, but now why isnt any logs being saved?

View Action Log
No results found.

See?

The action log doesn't log new stories being uploaded.  It logs things like admin validation of stories, new members signing up, admin deletes of stories and members, and that kind of thing.  Make sure the log is turned on the settings (though I'm not sure why it would be showing in the admin panel if it's not turned on.)

If you're still having nothing show up and you're certain loggable actions have occurred, then it's probably best to post a new thread to keep the issues separate for people who might be searching for similar things later. : )

Also, I've added this wiki page regarding the Action Log for further information.

Thanks I understand now, also I accidentally added a new story but it is not in a series, how do I change that? Also how do I "hide" some stories from showing up?

To hide some stories from showing up you need to 'unvalidate them'. To do so you would go to the story itself and click 'Admin Options: [Edit]' then you would scroll down to 'Validated' and select 'No'. The story would then be in the queue and only visible to you and the author (if it was not you who submitted the story). Then click the Add Story button.

But if you just wanted to add a story to a series, you would just to to the series and click 'Admin Options: [Add to Series]' and then select the story. You wouldn't need to hide it.

Hope this helps.
