It should be more than obvious--I have switched our forum software from phpBB to Simple Machines. I've got to figure out themes, but in the meantime, please let me know of anything you notice that is amiss. Thanks!

Carissa,
The smilies are not working... even when you go to post. I don't think the script is looking in the right spot for them
Right now it looks in
http://www.efiction.wallflowergirl.com/smf/Smileys/default/*
When it most probably should look at
http://www.efiction.wallflowergirl.com/forums/Smileys/default/ *

Hmmm.... I don't know if it is only happening to me or to others as well but, as soon as I leave the site and later come back, I have to relog in even if I tell the script when I log to always remember me.
So, if other people experience this too, this means the cookies setting (if SMF has such a setting in the admin panel) is set wrong.

MMm.....SMF π
I am running 1.07 too....just not ready to go to 1.1 yet π
Well, I haven't ever used SMF, so I'm learning right along with you. (^_^) But so far so good I guess. It will take some getting used to.
So far: Icon/Avatar size needs to be 100 x 100 to no look goofy. So goodbye Trowa and hello Hakuryuu. Someone already mentioned that typing smileys doesn't pull up anything but the word smiley like this:
π π
******************************************
Mucking around in eFiction since circa 2001 (ver. 1.0)
Now running v.3

It's probably wrong, even though it works for me. This is the problem with the smiley's too. I originally converted the phpBB boards in a folder called "smf" then just changed the name. It caused a few problems with the skins too, but I fixed those because they were immediately apparent. I'll work on the other problems as well, but it might be a day or two. (Should've done this on the weekend when things like work didn't get in the way...)

I've never used smf either, so we're all learning together. π (Gotta fix those smileys...) I personally loved Invision Board, but they are no longer free, and SMF seemed to be the best free forum software. I don't really want to step on any toes, but I really disliked phpBB. The admin panel annoyed me endlessly, and it just didn't seem like you could do much with it, thus the switch.
I used to only swear by phpBB - used it for a goold old 3 years. In fact, because I was so used to phpBB, it took me some time to get used to IPB when someone donated a license for our forums! But now, nearly 2 years later, I think I'd be thoroughly lost if I had to give up IPB!
And seems like a lot of us are going to be learning SMF at the same time because I had not even heard of that script before! π

The smileys are fixed! ( What's up with this one?)
Jacynthe, I don't see anything wrong with the cookies. They are stored in the database so the path shouldn't be a problem. Let me know if you continue to have problems. I honestly think it might be this server, because I have trouble logging out sometimes...we're moving soon, so I'm hoping that will fix things.
I still have the issue - but it's weird because as I come back, it says welcome guest... the notice about email validation. But if I click on anything.. either that email validation link, or the search button... it then says I am logged in as Jacynthe.
So basically, this means the cookies are working, but there is a glitch in the way the index page deals with it? Because after I browse and get the logged in as Jacynthe, I can come back to the index and it will now say I am logged in - as if it needed the script to confirm it before it attempted to do anything on its own.

Wow, the forums look really awesome! It was a pleasent shock... I really, really love the new forum skin. It makes me want to use it too! XD
One thing though: is there a link to "View Posts Since Your Last Visit"? I usually just go through everything when I sign in.

This skin isn't staying, but it will be blue and simpler than the skin we had with phpBB. This is just the default--it's nice but needs fixing up a bit. For instance, we need links.
I'll have to look in the ability to view posts since last visit. That seem pretty simple, so I'd bet it's available, but I need to figure out how to turn it on.
Why the change in forum software? I do like the look of this one a bit better than the old one.

oooh Ive been contemplating changing a forum I run from phpbb to smf and wasnt sure if it could be done. guess it can! yay!
I changed purely because it was a personal preference. I really don't like the templates in phpBB and it's features are limited. I will change the colors, etc of this soon, but I think the layout will be better. As for the timing, I'm going to be switching servers soon and it just seemed easier to do it before than after, so I could be sure it will work on the new one.

You can, and it's super-easy. They have converter files that do all the work for you and still preserve the old informtion in case there is a problem. It was the easiest installation then conversion I've ever done.
I like this new script. Good choice. The colors are awesome, and I get Afrom Man how cool is that π
