First of all, I would like to apologize upfront if this problem has been addressed before. I've spent the past three days browsing the forums, but I might have missed something.

Have you searched for your problem: (yes/no): yes, I've spent three days digging around. I'm still pretty new, so I probably missed something.
If so, what terms did you try: I actually found a thread and tried to fix it, and got a new and different problem.
Do you have a test account for us? No, but I could try and set up one if it would help.
State the nature of your problem:
I have used efiction for years--I upgraded from a 1.something version to a 2.something a year or so ago. I wanted to upgrade again to 3, and I figured this would be a good time, as I am moving the entire archive to its own domain. I backed up all my files, including the database tables, and followed the instructions.
The first attempt yielded me an error that was similar to the one addressed here ( https://efiction.org/forums/index.php?topic=4504.0). I did what this thread suggested and tried using my old config file, but it wouldnβt install the tables. So I made sure all my info in the 3.3 config file was correct and reuploaded it... now Iβm stuck on step one, which gives me this error:
Warning: mysqli_connect() [function.mysqli-connect]: (HY000/2002): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) in /home/.quaiddryer/liss/thetightrope.org/includes/mysqli_functions.php on line 7
Warning: include(includes/en.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/.quaiddryer/liss/thetightrope.org/includes/mysqli_functions.php on line 9
Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening 'includes/en.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/.quaiddryer/liss/thetightrope.org/includes/mysqli_functions.php on line 9
A fatal MySQL error was encountered.
ERROR: Failed to connect to the database!
I searched the forums, but I am having problems finding a problem like mine. Like I said, I am very sorry if I missed something obvious.
Part of the problem, I think, is the fact that I know just enough to be dangerous. So any help would be appreciated.
Check with your host. Your mysql server may be down.
According to their status blog, there have been no planned or unplanned downtime with the MySQL servers. And my other scripts seem to be running pretty good. Is it possible that this error is my doing? I know very little about MySQL. I think I only imported my tables because the stars were smiling, or something π
The second two errors seem to indicate you're missing some files. Make sure everything got loaded to the site. The first one indicates that the script can't log in to the mysql server. Check the info you entered for your database in step one. If the mysql server isn't down then most likely you've got something entered wrong there.
I reuploaded everything and tried again with no success.
I deleted the tables and tried a brand new install. It did fine. I tried inserting my new information into those tables, but the SQL keeps kicking out something about the site key.
Since I'm having new problems, I was going to go and research them in the database. Hopefully, I'll be able to solve it and not have to bother you again.
Thanks!
