Hi,

I'm not sure whether this is the right forum or not, if not I apologise.

I was wondering, how would I go about making sure the 'real name' field is required?

I'm trying to make a header title for profile.tpl and I've set the header title to display the real name; however if the case arises where the person hasn't supplied a real name ... it wouldn't exactly display properly.

Thanks in advance.

I know the way to make people BELIEVE it is required, but not how to enforce it because it requires more coding knowledge than I possess. But the fake way is pretty simple.

Go into the user folder of your eFiction install and open editbio.php

look for:

<div><label for='realname'>"._REALNAME.": </label><INPUT type="text" class="textbox=" name="realname" maxlength="200" value="".(isset($user) ? $user['realname'] : "").""></div>

replace with:

<div><label for='realname'>"._REALNAME.": </label><INPUT type="text" class="textbox=" name="realname" maxlength="200" value="".(isset($user) ? $user['realname'] : "").""><font color="red">*</font></div>

That will add the red * that says this field is required. The only thing it won't do is actually return an error if the field is left empty because my coding doesn't go that far.
