I have no idea if I am writing this in the right place or anything, but I have searched iPage and haven't missed anything in a previous post about that.
So heres my deal, reading through eFiction features etc, it seems like the perfect fit for what I am trying to set up. My boss/cohort has purchased hosting space on iPage, it seems a little bit challenging to navigate but I hope that is purely because its unknown to me and completely unfamiliar.
So I followed your wiki and I think I have set up the database (i think), but honestly I am getting confused from that point.
This whole process has turned me into a complete techtard, lol.
So if anyone has the time or energy to try and step me through installing eFiction on ipage I would be eternally grateful and possibly offer up my first born child (yes I really am that freakin confused!!!)
I apologize in advance if this is not a thread that should be here.....but as I said, I did search your forum for any references to iPage.
Thanks in advance for you time and patience!!!
This is going to give you the info you need about how your hosts database management works (step 2 in the installing 3.0 page in the eFiction wiki): http://www.ipage.com/knowledgebase/beta/article.bml?ArticleID=1382
For step 3 (uploading files): http://www.ipage.com/knowledgebase/beta/article.bml?ArticleID=1357 or better yet http://www.ipage.com/knowledgebase/beta/article.bml?ArticleID=201
Once you get to step four is really where we can begin to help you, unless someone here happens to be familiar with that host. Each host does things differently.

I promise I am nowhere near as stupid as I look at the moment....
Heres what i can tell you, I have set up the database, I have downloaded and connected to the site using Filezilla and thats set up. So I have created a directory within and am uploading to that, but I have no doubt that someone will tell me I have stuffed that up.....
My brain hurts, I thought, THOUGHT I had done everything right, but now have no idea, lol
OKAY, so I have looked around me and have this for ya
URL to your eFiction: www.thefanfictionaddiction.com
Version of eFiction: 3.5.3
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: thought I was, god only knows, we have created a home page using drag and drop builder the basic version
Version of PHP: 5
Version of MySQL: MySQL Version: 5.0.83
Have you searched for your problem: Yes
If so, what terms did you try: I am thick and having trouble with ipage full stop,
State the nature of your problem: I have uploaded everything (I think) and nothing works from there, I go to the url to try and install it and NOTHING, lol
I am feeling so stupid
Where did you upload the files? If you want eFiction to be installed at the main domain, it needs to be in the web root. I believe (based on adding a couple of those filenames to the end of the URL) that you've screenshotted the web root, but I don't see the eFic files there.
Don't mind me, this whole process has killed all brain cells....
Its in the second folder down??/
Probably wrong,
I would love someones help
I have managed to upload and install efiction, YAY!!!
Its all working but not bridged well...boo.
Would love some help with this if possible
http://thefanfictionaddiction.com/fiction-archive.html is our home site
and I would like this
http://www.thefanfictionaddiction.com/FanFiction%20Archive/Efiction/eFiction353/index.php
as the tab if you know what I mean??
I'm not really sure what you mean. If you want a link to the eFiction install from that page, you need to edit that file. That's not part of eFiction so I couldn't really tell you how to do that. It looks like it might be a simple HTML template & if that's true it should be fairly easy to change with basic HTML knowledge.
I am starting to find that the web builder we were trying to use isn't going to be compatible with Efiction.
There are just too many minor bugs that added up become a really big deal.
So the question is, since we want this archive to to a part of a website that we already have plans for, what would be the best third party website builder to use for those whom are completely out of there element? So in other words which one is the best to bridge to???
At this point I am really keen to just try something else.
What do you mean by "website builder"?
