URL to your eFiction: http://www.libraryofmoria.com/a/
Version of eFiction: 3.4.3
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: No (tried with Coppermine but removed all traces when it failed)
Version of PHP: 4.4.7
Version of MySQL: 4.0.27
Have you searched for your problem: Yes
If so, what terms did you try: Images not showing
State the nature of your problem:
The archive has a small fanart section and since installing Coppermine failed, we thought we could just add the fanart pieces as stories and instead of text, paste the img tag for the image in the story body.
We tried doing this with an image located in a folder made especially for fanart (
), but the image never showed in the story body. Then, after reading a comment on the forum, we tried the same thing but using TinyMCE instead of direct coding. Nothing.
Then, upon reading another thread, I got the impression that the images are supposed to be in the story folder (
). I searched for it, uploaded the image there and tried again, using TinyMCE. I'm pretty sure the path to the image was correct but it didn't work. Ideas??
Do you have a test account for us? Yes, the one that comes with efiction
Any help would be very welcome. I've checked the Cpanel itself to see if we had set up any sort of prohibition but I can't find any.
Thanks
In Admin->Settings->Submission Settings there is a pull down choice of allowing images. But further down that page there is a part where you fill in what is the maximum width and height for images. You do have that set at something? Your image is 465 x 800 px. But images are tied to the author's folder in the stories folder, a folder called images is created.
In any case looking at the link you have, the image it should be stored in /stories/1223/images/folder.

Hi π
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, I had already enabled image uploading and the maximum width and height were both 800px, which I've changed to 801px, just in case. I saved the settings again but the image is still not showing.
I noticed that your image seems to be in the 'notes' section - is that where I should insert it? I've also tried that and I'm not getting better results.
Maybe I'm missing something but when I click the TinyMCE image button it prompts me for an URL for the image, so I was assuming that I had to upload the image to the story folder myself...
Thanks
Tal
Btw, I forgot to include the link to the 'story' before: http://www.libraryofmoria.com/a/viewstory.php?sid=324
Oops... for some reason it just started working.
Thanks!
Check my comment above (I edited while you were replying). You need to put the image in an image folder in the stories folder of the author, thus:
/stories/1223/images/meneluial_elladan.jpg
not
/stories/1223/meneluial_elladan.jpg

If you have images uploads on, each author should be able to upload their own images in their profile. It will then give you the correct code to paste in the story text box (tinyMCE does need to be disabled for it to work properly.
Dear Babaca and Carissa,
Thanks so much for the tips. It's working now.
Cheers,
Tal
