Hi there,

I'm thinking about setting up a Chinese fiction archive website using the eFiction program, but are currently having difficulties on Language settings etc. I'm wondering if you'd be so kind to give me some directions as to what I'll need to do to make eFiction work in a Chinese input environment. Your assistance will be highly appreciated! eFiction is such a fantastic programme! It's a pity it's only available in English.

The main problem I face with eFiction is that the Chinese Characters does not display properly (they'd automatically convert into unreadable characters), which is really really annoying. I'd love to make the site Multi-language friendly, as we will be archiving stories from authours who use simplified-Chinese (GB code) and authors who use triditional-Chinese (BIG5 code). My thoughts to the solution are to change the language encoding setting to utf-8, what do you think? Will this solve the problem? If changing the encoding to UTF-8 could possibly solve this, would you mind kindly let me know which particular file or files will required to be translated?(all I knew is that I'll need to change langusers.php, langadmin.php and the page charset to UTF-8, are there any more?)

Again thanks very very much for help.

And I'm sorry for my bad English. Wish a great Christmas!

I know nothing of Codes, UTF and such but as I am running a German efiction archive I can tell you that you not only have to change en.php and en_admin.php in the language folder but that there are also blocks (poll, shout, welcome, info etc.) and modules (challenges, storyend etc.) that have their own language files.
In some case you also need to translate some of the .tpl-files in you skin, when they have their own viewstory.tpl or storyindex.tpl or anything like that.

Version: 3.5.2
Bridges: None
Modules: Betareader, Challenges, Storyend
PHP: 5.2.9
MySQL: 5.0.67
