I was going to post then in the new features forum but not sure if it's just me who could use it or if everyone may like the idea.
Shouldn't the welcome message only show to users who have never been to the site? Couldn't there be an option to show the welcome message to everyone, guests only or off to everyone?

It's in pagesetup.php I believe, if you want to change it
